These are friction tuners, meaning that the tightness of the screw pressing against the plastic washer on the tuner is what keeps it from backing out and de-tuning.These seem to be of average quality. They look nice enough and hold tune somewhat.I can't hold these to a standard of more costly accessories. I bought them as replacements for a uke that is going to be a wall-hanger.

I needed to replace the disintegrating pegs on a simple mountain dulcimer. These work for me. The important thing is to install them right. People who complained about slipping pegs probably didn't install them tightly enough. The only thing that goes inside the instrument head is the metal sleeve that should end up largely or entirely in the hole that the shaft comes through. Everything else is on the outside. Tighten the little screw in the end of the tuning peg and force the knurled sleeve into the hole. The one movable white piece should have its rougher side facing the wood of the head. If it's put together with the pieces in the right place and tightly fitted, it should work for you. I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 because there should have been clear installation instructions.
