I use these to replace cheap plastic tension knobs on microphone stand booms. They're much easier to tighten enough to keep the boom in place.

I bought these to replace the cheap plastic handles on the Amaran 200D lights, and they worked great. I had to make a steel spacer-washer but after that, the handle was stronger and smaller which made it easier to pack and travel with. The thread is M8-1.25
