I couldn't get it to go on one side because the hole was too small. But it worked on the other side

I ordered a pack of four. Shipping box was in good condition but package inside was open and only 1 piece instead of 4

I am an avid kayaker with several sea kayaks as well as paddles. So I was happy to get the chance to review these replacement drip rings. Unfortunately, I’m not impressed with these. All other drip rings I have seen before are made from a rubbery material, so they have some give and stretch to be able to fit different paddle shaft sizes. These drip rings are made from a rigid plastic that can bend a little, but it doesn’t stretch at all. As a result, the range of paddle shaft diameters that these drip rings will fit is very limited. And they won’t stretch to go over any sort of bulging paddle joint as is used on many adjustable paddles.I tried these drip rings on two of my paddles: a high-end Epic brand carbon paddle (with the green shaft) and an inexpensive aluminum shaft paddle (black shaft). One the Epic, the drip ring would not go over the coupling collar at the joint, and on the other side it slid on well but wouldn’t deform to an oval shape to get past the ovalized portion of the shaft. On the aluminum-shaft paddle, the paddle diameter was too big for the drip ring to fit. It’s possible one could soften the plastic in these by submerging them in boiling water, but that seems like a lot of work when a typical rubbery drip ring will do the job with less effort. The material is nice and feels durable, so I’m giving these three stars. But aware of the limited applicability of these.

New kayaks, and brand new paddles. I got these drip rings as spares. These are listed in the Product Information section as "rubber." They are not. They are flexible plastic; probably a flexible PVC. I don't know, PVC might hold up better than rubber, as in my experience rubber products tend to dry-rot, crack and tear with age. Time will tell. They fit the paddle handles well. I'm sure they will function just fine as drip rings when my current rubber drip rings wear out or break.
