I got these as a simple way to add railing posts to our deck. I wouldn't consider them heavy duty as they are made of plastic. They are though, well made, and sturdy.

This product did work great for a free standing awning that built. However I did have to chisel 2 of the posts to get them to fit in the bracket.

I actually used these to put the feet of my above ground pool in to give them more stability :)

Having never built a deck before, I used these bases to put on top of an already built deck so that I could add posts and cable. This makes it so much easier to retrofit an existing deck with railing, or even to replace posts. If I were doing a new build from scratch, I'd still use these. They are very sturdy and easy to secure to the wood deck. Holds the post in place securely and I don't feel like the posts are going anywhere.
