This came quickly and was packaged well. It fit onto my Dewalt random orbital sander easily and without issue. I’ve been using it almost every day for a month. Sandpaper is sticking to it and I’ve had no problems.

Theoretically, the repair is simple - You remove the three screws (Torx-20) holding remnants of the old pad on and replace it with the new pad. In practice it’s not quite that easy - It’s DeWalt’s fault, not the replacement pad’s fault. DeWalt uses a sort of free floating ring air seal behind the pad that has springs that apply a slight force to provide an air seal between the body and the sanding pad (look for and download the manual for the sander). It has alignment marks that line it up where it belongs. Then line up the replacement pad and screw it on. Then if it’s not quite level (you will notice it sort of throbbing when you sand), loosen the screws a bit but don’t remove them. Then hold down the pad flat with one hand while re-tightening the screws - But do so partially and evenly all around and then finish tightening the screws. Then recheck that the sander is sanding correctly…My original DeWalt pad had a metal back - this replacement has a plastic back. But it wasn’t the back that failed on my original - The sponge rubber pad seemed to have rotted away for some reason. So I suspect the plastic back on this replacement is just fine. The good:(1) Saved me from buying a new sander for a reasonable cost of the replacement part.(2) The hook and loop sticks very well to my sanding disks.(3) It seems to be well made and fits my DeWalt model perfectly.Could Use Improvement:I would have preferred a metal back like the original part, but it’s probably not an issue.

This is probably the second time I have replaced the pad for my sander. This last time my wife used the sander and wasn't paying attention and didn't realize that she forgot to put a new piece on when she started sanding and didn't realize till she smelled burning plastic. My last pad "the one that i was replacing" was almost smooth and wouldn't hold anything.Change over to new pad tool less than 5 minGrip is great."Squishiness" of the pad is good alsoWould buy again

Direct replacement on my dewalt orbital sander, just as it said! Motor was fine but pad was destroyed. Now it's like new again. Installed in seconds 3 star head screws.

I hadn't used my DeWalt DW421 sander in a while and when I wanted to use it for a project, the pad mounting disk had deteriorated and just crumbled apart. So I decided to try this one as a replacement. The hardest part of the installation was removing the screws hold the old (original) disk in place. It was a little tricky to get the screw heads to go through the holes in the new pad, but a little pressure got them into the holes and then the only challenge was getting them threaded back into the drive plate. The standard pads fit and stick really well. Was able to finish my sanding project successfully.
