I wanted to keep my Rotel receiver with RCA audio inputs while installing a new Bluray player. This adapter allowed me to upgrade to a 4k Bluray player and convert the HDMI audio outputs to RCA. Clean signal with lots of options. Pro grade in my opinion.

In the search for a surround decoder which will let me use vintage amps for 5.1, decided to try this generic cheapy rather than shell out for a name brand decoder which will just take up rack space.Have had good experiences with ARC devices (for TV-controlled volume via CEC) but willing to use SPDIF as a fallback. Need DD, DTS, and LPCM decoding, and 5.1 is plenty.So, not a ton of options with ARC on Amazon, I think there's like 4 unique models being sold under different names. Gave this one a chance based on the specs of the output RCA line voltage.Plugged HDMI in and while it is recognized, the volume on the TV was pegged at full, with no ability to modify it or even mute. Apparently they didn't implement the CEC part, which is a shame. I will be returning this and trying one of the other models on Amazon. Hope this helps if someone is looking for that particular feature.
