Even though this wire looks thin, it is extremely strong and durable when using it to bind metal fencing around plants to protect from other animals and deer in the neighborhood that will eat them. I had just used metal fencing ties prior when someone told me to start using stainless steel rope. I needed a special tool to clamp it together at the ends, but man this stuff is strong and they do not budge even when animals try to climb on it or through storms and wind. This is also easier to wrap and maneuver than very stiff and brittle fencing ties.

We had a couple of large trees blown sideways when the last hurricane came through. I used a winch to pull them upright and a length of this steel cable tied to a rebar stake to keep the trees vertical until the roots can re-establish themselves. The cable is well constructed and of good quality.

First off, I would like to say this is not the type of cable normally used as "aircraft cables", except in certain applications. I am not saying this is not a good cable - on the contrary, this is excellent wire rope that can be used for a multitude of things.Aircraft cable, especially that used for flight controls, is almost always 7X19. This wire is 7X7, and while extremely strong, it's a bit too stiff to be used as it has to constantly pass over flight pulleys, and will eventually begin to stress-break sooner than the more flexible 7X19. Losing a flight control cable is not fun when you are at 5000 feet!That being said, if the cable is going to be used in a linear motion control, such as elevator control in which two cables are strung in a straight line to the top and bottom of the airplanes elevator, the 7X7 is a better choice, as it is stronger and will never have to bend around a pully.Ok, enough aviation talk!This cable is super strong, and will never rust. It's great for wire supports for a Ham Radio antenna tower, or to secure a stove pipe .It's also great to run between two buildings, so as to have a strong support to hang a string of lights.

Ordered to add to my inventory of useful items for makeshift, emergency and permanent rigging. This roll of heavy-duty stainless-steel wire rope takes its place beside rolls of duct tape, packaging tape, rope, twine, cloth hook and loop fasteners, carabiners and other fastening, tie down and hanging hardware. When you live on a farm in rural Texas, you need to have the tools, supplies and means to deal with emergencies, accidents, unforeseen complications, workarounds and situations calling for novel solutions. For me, heavy duty wire rope is as necessary and useful as gray duct tape, and this is such a product.

This is a very heavy duty 5/32" stainless steel wire rope. At 5/32" it is only slightly thinner than the 3/16" used on my come-along or some winches. I'm using it for aerial strand to support outdoor lighting that spans a large area of my back yard. It pulls very tight and doesn't sag under the weight of the lights.
