This is a really good budget option for the beginning photographer or videographer. It's a big bucket of roofing screws. Had a couple of screws that were bad, but that happens with any brand in my experience. Used for putting metal roofing on my off-grid cabin and I had plenty. How My Star Rating System Works & What They Mean:1 STAR - Pretty much junk and I would return and ask for a refund if I could.2 STAR - It works, but barely meets the minimum requirements it should in order to keep it and not return it, but I would not order again.3 STAR - It does what it was designed to do, but there's nothing really special about it. It's acceptable but not great.4 STAR - I am very comfortable recommending it to a friend because it is is well made, durable, and delivers on its advertised features, and I would buy it again.5 STAR - I really love it. The item exceeds my expectations of quality, durability and functionality. Not only would I purchase it again, but I would also actively encourage friends and family to to do the same. All of my reviews are my own personal opinion and are completely honest no matter if I receive an item for free or I pay for it. I am an avid Amazon shopper, as well as an Amazon Vine Voice and I personally rely on reading reviews to make all of my buying decisions, so I understand the importance of honest reviews from my peers.

This is a very easy to use ND filter that fits on the lens and allows you to control your lighting for nearly any situation. It comes in a soft bag which is nice. And it easily can be put in any travel bag. I did have some difficulty putting it on my lens but I think with more use it will go on alot easier. For my pictures I was using a 50 mm lens AND Wow this thing does alot of boca. But it was a bright day and wanted to see how well an ND filter works with this lens. And Im not disappointed. I used the filter to give me some control without playin with the settings on the camera. And it was interesting especially with this Lens/Filter combo. I think I did a good job. I did take a series of photos to make sure my settings were good and these did what I was hoping for. A nice lens for anyone who wants to control their lighting.

This is an interesting niche filter. Typically ND (neutral density) filters are a constant value, neutral gray filter mounted on the front of a camera to reduce the amount of light. Most often used in snow photography or beach photos, but also in studio conditions where you want to control light levels while also managing ISO, aperture and depth of field (DoF). More often used with camera that are otherwise limited in adjustment range, they can help simulate low light conditions with high ISO to generate a grainier effect. This filter adds an interesting twist. It consists of a pair of polarizing filters mounted coaxially on a single 3 mm thick mount. By rotating the mount you have almost infinite control over the amount of light passed. The Mfg claims 9 stops or a 1:512 reduction. That would be like shooting at ISO 32,000, outdoors in sunlight at 1/250 sec and F11 for the grain effect. Or for the boca effect F2.0 at ISO 250 @ 1/1000sec. I did not verify that range, but you can see from the photo it is effectively opaque.I am intrigued because an effect of two polarizing filters would also be to sharply limit the polarized reflections coming off complex surfaces. I plan on experimenting with glass, gems and snow to see if the proper orientation allows almost perfect reduction in unwanted reflections. One concern may be internal reflections, but my quick and dirty tests did not reveal any contrast reduction due to the added glass surfaces. This is an interesting addition to the camera bag.

This review is for the 82mm version of Green.L's variable ND filter which doesn't currently appear as one of the selections on Amazon's website. My guess is that they are currently out of that 82mm size.Regarding the filter itself, and as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for." This very reasonably-priced variable neutral density filter works ok but has a limited range of usable ND exposure reduction; it's not 9 stops. When setting the filter on its minimum setting and putting it on the camera you'll immediately lose just under two stops of light. As you rotate the filter to its maximum setting it works fine but you won't be able to go all the way to the max setting because of the weird "X" pattern (a known phenomenon that occurs with variable ND filters) that appears and ruins the image with strange vignetting patterns.Once the filter is on your camera (reducing the initial exposure by almost two stops) you will only be able to reduce the exposure by another four stops before the image degrading "X" pattern appears. So, in effect this is only a 6-stop variable ND filter; two stops by putting the filter on the camera and four more by rotating the ring.I will definitely use it as the optical quality seems fine. I just know its limitations now.

Really solid VND filter for the price! Materials feel good. No hard stops but also no x over image. Overall happy with what I got!

ND filter works great on my sony a5100. Pictures come out looking nice and with no glare. This exceeded my expectations for the product. Have only had it for some weeks now but it seems well built and durable.
