For many years now we go camping often with family and friends. Over those years the thing that always gets on my nerves is the non-stop foot traffic of the children always coming and going from our small bathroom! On our last camping trip, I set this 5.8 Gallon Portable RV Toilet inside a shower tent and showed everyone, especially the kids, how to use it! They already knew to conserve water, and I left the instructions pinned to the tent wall. And just like that, all that foot-traffic stopped into my RV!!!Yeah! All the pumps, sprayers and activators worked exactly as described, and only a few mishaps from the youngest kids happened. This portable holding tank has worked well, took care of the weekend and was easy to dump into our sewer when we got home! I sprayed it out with clean water, and left it out to dry for the next trip! There was only one thing this unit did not have that I thought it should have had, a pop-out arm that holds a roll of toilet paper. Overall, this is a good and sturdy unit, with an extended seat for us older folks! We will be taking this portable toilet with us every-time the kids go camping with us.

This unit was solidly build all-around (even the connector plumbing for RVs). Its comprised of dense, solid plastic all around. This unit could certainly take some weight. Its a very well thought out design as it is a cinch to assemble and disassmble. I appreciate the added sprayer for easier clean up. The unit does have some weight to it on its own. However the design includes handles for easy transport. Keep in mind this unit will be heavy with added water. My only issue is waste disposal if not attached to RV plumbing. If the unit is to be used on its own (outside of RV use), it is a bit of a hassel to dispose of the waste. It could also be a bit messy and a bit of biohazard. To prevent this, I would install a biohazard plastic bag to collect waste, however you will not be able to use the water feature (it wouldn't be useful at this point). Otherwise, this thing is amazing and feels comfortable while in use.

Whether camping, boating or you just need a backup in an emergency, a portable toilet can be a life saver. Fortunately there is an abundance of portable toilets available. CircleRiver is one such manufacturer that is offering a portable toilet with a few unique features and a few challenges. So let's take a look at what CircleRiver has to offer.(What I like)(1)The toilet seats corner design has better ergonomics versus other portable toilet seats. It allows for a more elongated seat, which is closer in design to the toilets you would find in a stick built house.(2)I have a personal preference for a pump on a portable toilet versus a bellows. It may not matter, but I believe they are more robust and in general last longer.(3)I like the generic grey color. It's a rather neutral color that readily blends in with most backgrounds.(4)The T-type flusher in the bowl does a good job of distributing the water, which I imagine would do a better job of cleaning the bowl.(5)The finger indents on the seat and cover are a nice feature.(What I don't like)(1)Who would want their cell phone sitting a few inches from the toilet seat ? I know I wouldn’t want it sitting there, that is about as unsanitary as it gets. That space could have been better used for storage for the sprayer and funnel.(2)The hand sprayer might be useful if you can get it to prime. I found it challenging at times, even after raising and lowering the siphon tube. I don't know how often I'll use it, but I'll keep it for now.(3)No storage compartment for toilet paper, hand sprayer or funnel. See my issue with item # 1. There is also no carry bag for the above items.(4)The level indicator is nice, but reword it as a full - empty indicator in the instructions. Actually you could eliminate it all together if you wanted to, as all you need to do is open the dump valve and look inside, (I know gross)Now for a few general observations. The storage capacity is going to be very subjective, as a lot depends on how many people are using it and how frequently.I gave the toilet a mini torture test by repeatedly tilting it back and forth to simulate use on a boat. Results being I found no leaks, even after separating the water tank from the sewer tank. Just be careful when transporting the sewer tank, reason being if you accidentally bump the dump valve you're going to have a mess.I'm not familiar with the CircleRiver brand, so I can't comment on the availability of replacement parts, versus other more established brands. In closing, I'm satisfied with this toilet. It has some nice features. I am willing to overlook the cell phone holder as the rest of the toilet seems to be a solid design.

I'd suggest wetting the toilet and then doing your business and spraying again then pulling the handle to release the waste after done with the lid closed. (contrary to instructions). The smell with it open can be quite fowl even when using treatment chemicals. Also put maybe half a gallon in it first so stuff floats around and doesn't stick.Good for camping or van life type applications. There are smaller ones out there though.I pour these into my sewer main line at my house when finished or can be used with dumping stations I'm sure.Check your local jurisdictions laws first though.I'd image a small group could use this for 5-7 days before it filling up and it would take awhile for single person.I guess a big factor would be how much water you use to flush.ProsLarge size water and sewage capacityGood height, similiar to normal toiletHigh quality plastics and other materialsLarge bowlTons of features: Sprayer, better pump, air release, level indicator and retractable spoutConsNo toilet paper storage, would rather have that then the cellphone holder.Price seems a tad high, it's currently at $140 and I've purchased a similiar but not near the quality of this one for almost half as much. I see extremely similiar ones for $100 currently. The one is also compatible with an optional sink bowl. On the other hand some of the name brand true cassette toilets of higher quality can cost almost $500. Most of them have a fraction of the capacity though but are easier to handle.
