What is it?
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor's primary job is to monitor the position of the throttle pedal and send an electronic signal to open the throttle body as you depress the gas pedal. The APP sensor essentially tells your engine how fast or slow to drive as you press the gas pedal. When you press down or lift off the throttle, it sends an electrical signal to the vehicle’s ECU or ECM as it's also referred to, and then transmits that signal to the fuel system.
The primary reason why this part would fail is due to exposure to high heat as it's typically located on the floorboard and next to the firewall of the vehicle.There are occasions when it will fail, wear out or need to be replaced.Like most components on the vehicle, a bad or failing APP sensor will display a few warning symptoms including triggering error codes, warning lights and a few physical symptoms that should alert the driver that a problem exists.

How to replace a Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor?
Your vehicle’s APP sensor ultimately controls fuel flow in your car or truck. If it is malfunctioning, your vehicle may experience problems such as poor acceleration and reduced vehicle speed. Don’t hesitate to make shopping for a replacement accelerator pedal position sensor for your car.
Remove the instrument panel left lower closeout panel. Remove the connector position assuran ce (CPA) from the accelerator pedal position sensor connector.
Disconnect the APP sensor harness connector. Remove the APP assembly attachment bolts.
Remove the APP assembly from the vehicle. Install the upper attachment bolt into the APP assembly.
Install the APP assembly into the vehicle. Install the remaining attachment bolts into the APP assembly.
Tighten the bolts. Connect the APP sensor harness connector. Push the connector in until the lock position is felt, then pull back to confirm engagement.
Install the CPA to the APP sensor harness connector. Install the instrument panel left lower closeout panel.

Works great. Tried a different model (unbranded) on our 2007 Honda accord (2.4l) but it put the car immediately into limp mode. So paid a little more and bought this one and it has worked great and put over 1000 miles on the car now and not had a single stutter or limp mode event (original sensor had intermittent stutters in winter and in summer would constantly throw the car into limp mode requiring us to turn it off to “reset” the sensor. Only reason I’m giving it a four star instead of five is because there was not quite enough play in the cable adjustment thread, it needed to be just a bit longer. Now there is just a little bit of play so you have to slightly depress the accelerator pedal before it picks up the slack..

It was a fairly easy install and it fit perfect in my 2007 Acura TSX. I watched a few you tube videos that helped me save money doing this job myself. It has been over two months since I installed it and it is still going strong. Very good price and value. Would recommend this product.

I had a check engine light (error code 2138). After disconnecting the battery and replacing the sensor, I reconnected and with the ignition on but not started, I pressed the accelerator to the floor until the check engine light flashed and extinguished to reset the ECU. Easy.
