I used to rely on a pocket calculator and a standard protractor for cutting miters, not realizing a tool like this even existed. I’m so glad I came across it and learned how to use it! At first glance, it may seem a bit confusing, but once you get familiar with it, it proves to be an incredibly convenient and time-saving tool that helps prevent wrong cuts.Beyond its functionality, the tool is well-made - durable, solid, and easy to read. I only wish I had discovered it sooner!

This protractor is well made with no slop while rotating smoothly and, having tested it against a trusted 90-degree square, it is accurate. I have to confess, though, that it is not what I thought I was ordering, which was just a standard protractor. This tool is designed for use with miter saws and that means a 90-degree angle will read as 0, since that it where you should set your saw cut. Similarly, a true 45-degree angle will read as either 45 degrees or 67.5 degrees (90 minus half of 45), depending on which scale you use. The photos show these readings. This is not a flaw in the design or manufacture, it’s simply not what I expected.

I have spent most of my life as a contractor. I take a lot of pride in using math for just about everything that I build rather than needing to measure everything and ending up with problems. Math doesn't lie.This tool took me a few minutes to understand but once you get it, you'll love it. I've always used a standard "T-Bevel" to get the angle of just about anything I intended to miter. There is some math doing it that way because it gives you the angle that a protractor would measure but construction tools use "zero" when it is actually 90* so it requires some calculations to go back and forth. This little tool takes all of the guess work out of it. Very quick and repeatable.If you are unsure, look up some videos online and you'll see just how valuable this tool really is.

I have the mechanical protractor, non digital. It seems good for making outer and inner angles, the only thing that throws me off is the arrow that points to the angle. When both arms are straight down, essentially an angle of 0, it reads 90. When I make a 90 degree inner angle, the arrow points to the 45 degree number. Also, the inch measurements start at some number between 4 and 5 inches. The measurements should start at 0 at your corner and measure outward for simplicity. If using the measurement at all, you would be measuring how far out from the corner you want, not starting at a blank point of your line and measuring inward. I can use this to protract some angles, but I will just have to know to take the markings and add 45 degrees.

This is really quite a nice protractor and angle finder. It's made extremely well with an anodized aluminum finish and very thick for a tool such as this. It's almost 1/5th of an inch thick and feels solid and robust. The markings are clearly readable being in white letters against the red . All the numbers are also laser etched to be able to be seen for many years.I am always looking to find different angles in the woodwork I do and I'm really liking how this protractor looks and feels.

OK, I really don't need this. I have more than enough woodworking angle squares, combo squares, and T-bevels. On the other hand, if you subscribe to the time honored "measure twice, cut once," the miter protractor is a must.This is a well-designed, well made tool. So far when used with other similar tools, it "measures" up. (Bad pun.) Where is shines for me is when transferring an angle using a T bevel to my miter saw, sometimes I need the actual degrees. This tool does it. I can record the number for later use, something I cannot do with a T-bevel, unless I "save it" when working the next day.Oh, I don't "measure twice, cut once." I "measure three/four, cut once." Yeah, I'm like that, just like having similar tools to perform the same job. Like this one.Five stars.
