Oil Filter Cutting Tool 77750
Suitable for most oil filters on the market (diameter 2-3/8''-5''), compatible with oil filters for cars, trucks, airplanes, motorcycles, lawn mowers and other equipment. Not suitable for very small filters such as Honda, etc., nor for oil filters over 5 inches in diameter.
77750 Oil Filter Cutter Usage Steps
- Step 1: Place the oil filter on the cutting platform and adjust the lead screw so that the blade is in small pressure contact with the filter housing.
- Step 2: Keep rotating the filter in the same direction until the contact between the blade and the housing is loose (after there are no chips and no cutting effect)
- Step 3: Slightly adjust the handle, slightly tighten the blade, and repeat step 2.
- Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the filter is completely cut.

Worked perfect on a 2 3/8" diameter Toyota Rav4 Hybrid Oil filter. Fortunately there was no metal in found in the filter. In a few months I'll try it on a bigger, V8 engine sized oil filter.

I had ab olde car with engine issues, so I wanted to see if metal was sticking in the filter casing , it was and by cutting the filter open , I could see that more issues where coming down line . Its also good to see how effective your oil filter is working and if ou should clean and flush between a few oil chages if the filter is a darker color than normal , this means old bad oil is stuck inside the engine so use a good flush product for 15 minutes and drain and put fressh oil , do this for two oil changes , also SeaFoam has oil additive to use 2000 liles before an oil change try this also as a flush method to get the car cleaner and up to a good mainttance level , if you bough this vehicle used , do this clean and flush till you have put 10,000 miles on the car and you'll be in good stead going forward and you gas mileage will be better too!

I bought this to cut open used oil filters from my Rotax aircraft engine for inspection. It works perfectly, and is super easy to use. Made a nice clean cut on my filter. For the price, the build quality is amazing, and is a great value for my money

I have nothing to compare it to since this is the first one of these I've used. It worked. I tightened the blade until it had just a little resistance from the filter, turned the filter about 6 times, tightened a little more, repeated several times until it came off. Took about two minutes. No complaints. Has extra blades.
