What is a gasket ?
- Gasket is a mechanical seal between two objects, usually used to prevent pressure, corrosion, and natural expansion and contraction of pipelines and leakage between two objects. Since the machined surface cannot be perfect, the irregularities can be filled with gaskets.

As the headline stated, the intake gasket was the wrong size. I had to slightly widen the mounting holes in order to get the bolts through. 2mm has to be "shaved" off both holes. The other gaskets all fit great and The kit included 2 head gaskets which is foreboding:( but nice to have on hand.

Gasket $12. Engine $600. New mower $2200.I went to public school but I believe the gasket was the cheapest way to go.

Good, inexpensive gasket set. It will cover most single cylinder OHV Briggs engines found in riding mowers. Briggs did a poor job designing these engines and they blow head gaskets on a regular basis. Buy this kit and save your old mowers!

I have a 1170 Cub Cadet riding mower that is about 10 years old. It started smoking so I assumed it was a head gasket and the shop wanted $300 to do it. I bought this kit and it had every I needed. It took a few hours to install the head gasket but now, no more smoking. It did have an extra gasket and a cap that I was not sure what it went to.
