The machine Screws 8-32x1/2" discription is accuract. Used a #29 drill bit and 8-32 tap to make a machined hole that fits this screw. All items avialable from Amazon.

These screws are nothing but painted plated machine screws. Even running a nut on the screw caused the finish to come off.

These machine screws are well formed/machined and the black oxide finish looks very good. The screws exhibit light magnetism, which is consistent with 18-8 stainless steel that has been worked. The threads are clean and smooth, as evidenced by visual inspection of many and test threading nuts on a few. All evidence suggests good quality hardware. The black oxide finish, which is bonded during a chemical treatment (it is not paint), affords a durable, attractive professional look. I've been using black oxide stainless steel hardware on projects below deck on a saltwater sailboat for about 15 years and I find good quality fasteners (there is some junk out there) look just as good after a decade as the day they were installed. In contrast painted or lightly zinc coated mild steel fasteners almost inevitably develop light corrosion, or worse, after a few years.
