I purchased a packet of these mutes to give students in our local youth symphony but I tried one first myself. Unfortunately, these mutes don't rate at the level of a Tourte mute of similar design. The rubber is too flexible and soft and the width of the mute is a little too narrow even on a violin, much less a viola. The mute slips between the strings to hang upside down within minutes of putting it on. So, my advice is, spring for a Tourte mute!
