I am amending my rating from Five star to Four star. Here is why;Pros: Cheap...sort of. 40 usd is not chicken feed. They are very light. Good lookingCons: Inferior steel used on the cross bolt only allowing 35 inch lbs of torque instead of 65 inch lbs on many other rings. The cross bolts are way smaller than the MIL STD Picatinny rail spes. My EGW 0 MOA rail has precise .206/.207 lug width. Mil Spec is .206. These ring cross bolts should be about .200 to .204. They are a LOT smaller at .190. You would be surprised how much slop they have in a precise MIL STD rail cut to .206". The rings must be forced FORWARD while tightening or you many run in to problems. This is maybe a deal killer for me. The rings are perfectly functional if tightened in the manner I described. But I would call the very small width crossbolts a defect or a design defect. My giant 50mm scope (6-24x) has a bell(objective lens) that is 64.2mm with a lens cover on it. It can lie it on my rail with NO rings and it will clear my barrel. So, the lowest rings in the world would work for my Savage just fine. I have .5-.75" clearance between my scope bell and my barrel. Gun is a pre 2015 Savage 10 FCP-SR with a heavy (not a BULL) contoured fluted barrel. Most bolt guns have rails that sit plenty high enough for using low rings even with 56mm objectives. I have a 0 MOA rail. If I had a 20 MOA rail and a 56mm lens, it might be close. It could still possibly fit.In a rush? Dont want to stress over which rings to use? Order two different heights knowing you will have to pay a couple dollars to send one pair back. They are small and very light.Got an AR or flat to your receiver rail? You will need higher rings for a 50mm scope. I dont know about a 40mm. Cant help you there. I can say that most modern bolt guns can use low and even XTRA low rings for some of the largest scopes. This is a mystery/secret to many for some reason. You can spend more, but not get as good of a value as this. My Weaver Rings are extremely matte with no sheen what so ever. I like the large side locking nut. Very nice. There are no instructions for torque. I would use 20 inch/lbs on the rings with blue loctite. The side nuts may take as much as 65 inch lbs. I will call Weaver.Buy a cheap (sort of) Wheeler Fat Wrench (inch pound torque wrench) here on Amazon. You dont need to spend more. It comes with ALL the bits you will need for a gun scope and more. Consider buying the whole Wheeler Scope mounting kit like I did for $104 here on Amazon. It has levels and lapping tools AND the Fat Wrench. Great buy.NOBODY knows about these rings because they are mis labled on Amazon. They are LOW rings...not SHORT. I only found this via a search with Weaver's part number 99692. I was able to cancel my order in time of the Weaver Six Hole Tactical (style) 30mm Rings Low. Any Weaver ring with the word 'Tactical" in it is NOT for the MIL STD Picatinny rail. Those rings are made for the decidedly UN tactical ancient, discontinued Weaver Rail System. Do not buy those rings if you have a modern Picatinny Rail. Lugs on year 1930 Weaver Rail System are .180" wide. The MIL STD Picatinny rail has lugs .206" wide. These rings do cost about $4 more than the ones for the Weaver Rail System ("Tactical-Style"). That is OK. They fit MUCH better than the wrong sized rings! No slop or twisting like the "Tactical-Style" rings. The height(low, med, high, xtra high) and skelontized clamping tops are exactly the same for both models. The only difference is in the cross bolt diameter which is actually quite important.I am pretty sure this information will help some of you out there. It took me a while to figure all this out. I got it now...finally.

This weaver 6-hole 30mm "short" (read: LOW) version of these rings is perfect for my setup. The rings were well constructed and rugged for an exceptional value.
