I bought this product to cover up a hole in my ceiling that used to have a vent in it. I like the fact that it said it could be cut down to the size I need. The issue I experienced was that there was no adhesive and so the only way to attach it would be too hot glue it up there or possibly even use regular glue or a screw. If you put a screw nail into it though, there's nothing to attach to your ceiling and it would've messed up a piece itself. I suppose if used as described and you cut a hole in it to put around a ceiling fan it should work OK but I still don't know how you would attach it.

We had to cover a 10" square metal box in the ceiling. This medallion did the trick because we needed one without the usual hole in the middle. I used a small tube of high tack construction glue around circumference, held it to cover the spot for about 15-20 seconds and then used an extending cobweb brush set on a ladder to put LIGHT pressure on medallion. It is made of Styrofoam so take care not to use much pressure. It can be easily dented or even broken. It worked great for our situation.

I needed a medallion to cover a rather ugly ceiling opening for the electrical box. This slipped between the new IKEA light fixture and the ceiling without the need for adhesive. No cutting or drilling was necessary on the medallion. No paint is necessary because it matched the light fixture perfectly. I think it looks better with the medallion than without even if there were no ceiling damage.

Used a brand new blade to cut this in the middle, and it split into 4 pieces anyway. You cannot use this to go around a ceiling fan or light fixture.

It was not packed well and the Styrofoam had several small dents when it arrived. It took about 3 coats of paint to completely cover since the paint did not stick well to the foam surface. It is mounted high enough so as not to see the flaws. Overall, it was easy to use and it looks good when finished.
