Note: The kit will work for either the drivers side, or passengers side. One kit will repair or reinforce one pillar. The kits now includes replacement bolts. These bolts are there to use should the stock bolts not fit the smaller bushing. It changed the size of the captivated washer at some point, making it larger thinking it would fix the weak point.

These are probably aluminum. I did not go with plastic on purpose. These slip into place and bolts that came with matched thread type. Fixed it up good in my 2004 dodge 2500.

I was skeptical about this solution, until I started seeing pictures of reviews. Once you see how the pieces insert, it works just great. Better than buying a whole new handle for $100

Product is as expected except defective bolt. Gouging smashed lines up and down the thread area. Bolt kept falling out..no grip. Had to go to hardware store and buy another to complete installation.

Extremely dangerous product! I believed this would provide compression to prevent the plastic from failing completely. Alas it does not. This dangerous product solves no issue with the Ram design flaw. The only thing this provide provides is false security...with injuries when it fails with the A Pilar coming off while this product remains attached to the truck. One might go so far as to say this product could be responsible for failures because of the added stress on the plastic it causes. I did not torque down the bolt to cause it to fracture the plastic like this. As with any plastic item, one does not tighten down.I am a 128 pound 5.9 skinny dude. I couldn't imagine this holding up in any condition, no matter the users size. This should be sold as a preventative product when installing brand new grab handle trim. When the grab handle is used to enter or exit the vehicle side forces are applied. As such the original design has slits to allow the plastic to flex. Over time though the plastic deteriorates, leading to eventual failure. I would imagine most fail with freezing and hot conditions when the plastic is more suspectable to failure.I believe the act of forcing this extremely tight fitting product over the plastic likely caused fractures and the subsequent total failure. This product could potentially prevent stress fractures on new grab handles. However it is certainly not a repair.I purchased this to use on the driver's side after replacing the passenger side grab handle trim piece. One of my buddies is a 6.5 280+ pound beast. He accidentally snapped it right off simply grabbing the handle before entering the truck. Fearing a repeat on the driver's side I opted to use this as a preventative measure. Unfortunately it resulted in immediate failure. Given my small size I never expected the grab handle to fail on me, especially after this product was installed. For legal reasons I did not return the product.

Since the washers are separate and the interior pieces loose (outside pieces were very snug/tight fitting) it was a pain to hold the A pillar in place, insert the interior piece which would slide right back out, and get the screw in. If they used bolts where the washer in crimped to keep it from sliding down, it would immensely help when using a socket to insert. I had to stuff a socket with paper to keep the bolt from sinking into the socket as the washer moved forward. With a regular length socket, the bolt wasn't long enough for it to sink into the socket AND turn into the grooves. OEM used bolts with washers to prevent this. With the crimped on, but free spinning washer, the bolt can't sink into the socket as the washer keep it from sinking. The OEM bolts aren't long enough to reuse and local hardware store doesn't carry bolts with crimped in place washers.
