I was skeptical that these would be sturdy when trying to place them around a pip that had a layer of insulation on it. I had to squeeze it a bit as I intentionally ordered it a little smaller knowing the insulation would give way. I expected the clamping device to give as well a little bit and it did not. It held strong to it's shape and clasped closed nicely.

This product will not work for actual security, the clamp arms can be pried off and the lock removed entirely without damaging the device, it’s that flexible. Similarly, using it to lock a valve in the open position you can get at least 1/2 closed before the lock engages, and after that you can just force it closed. So as a visual deterrent it will perform well, but if you need to actually prevent operation of the valve look for something else.

Product is made from very flimsy plastic. It fits and works in the off or on position, I just wish it felt more sturdy to act as a deterrent to anyone that would want to shut off my main maliciously

It would work better if it was made with metal.

Good fit for the water ball valve. It is a deterrent, but it is plastic and can be broke, if someone really wants to remove it.

These ball valve lockouts help comply with OSHA regulations for control of hazardous energy. Can also be used to stop unwanted operation of a valve in public places. A simple safety precaution.

I put this on a 3/4" pipe, which by the specs should have been OK. However, the wings do not grip the pipe and valve tightly enough, leaving a lot of play. Therefore you can still twist the ball valve handle - almost the the point of being fully open (probably around 75% or so) and if there is enough friction in the valve body it even stays open. This is a complete waste of money - provides no security whatsoever.
