  • Adafruit MCP4725 Breakout Board - 12-Bit DAC w/ I2C Interface

Adafruit MCP4725 DAC
DESCRIPTION
This module makes it easy to add an analog output to your microcontroller by digital-to-analog conversion based on the MCP4725, a controllable 12-bit DAC in I2C easy to implement.
Very useful in audio/analog when the PWM is not enough, just choose an output value and it will be available on the Vout.
It is possible to control 2 modules by the same I2C bus.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Dimensions 0.71"x0.55"x0.1" (18x14x3mm)
Compatible with 3.4Mbps fast mode I2C.
EEPROM on the card to keep the selected voltage value in memory
Compatible with 3.3V to 5V (the selected output voltage cannot exceed the supply voltage)

Make sure to ground to your Arduino as well (SCL, SDA, GND to Arduino and VIN, VOUT, GND to device you are trying to control with variable voltage). Also make sure your arduino GND is the same voltage potential as the device GND!

I am using this to control a power supply and it works just as expected with no issues. I used an available Arduino library and modified it for my application. Having this DAC board on the I2C bus really makes using it easy. The accuracy of this MCP4725 DAC will depend on how accurate your reference voltage is. I am using a precision reference so the accuracy is very good.

Great value, well documented, easy to set up and use.I would have given 5 stars if I could have gotten an Eagle library that has this part in it.

Se commande très facilement sur le bus I2C. Inconvénient : seulement 2 adresses disponibles soit 2 voies maximum (2 cartes).

Nice breakout board design. Soldering the header is easy. The MCP DAC is an old design and the manufacture's documentation is incomplete. Therefore, you are forced to use trial and error to understand the full functionality.
