The 3 books are really nice but seems a bit expensive at $18.

This is my second set of books from Creatively Calm Studios. While I do have a few grumps, I am pleased with the set, and think most any colorist will be delighted with the designs that range from easy to intricate with an emphasis on intricate. Overall: Fun...…challenging. In spite of my few grumps, I definitely would recommend.KUDOS:1. The designs: Truly fun to color. Lots of detail on most designs, and require time, patience,and perhaps a bit of talent/fortitude with any media.SCENERY: includes animals, buildings, nature (trees, sky, plants) etc. Most illustrations have a border; however, a few are just centered on page. There are some really detailed pictures 7.25 H x 6.5 W inches. Lots of lines and curlicues for those who enjoy intricate coloring. A little bird high on a branch welcomes you and a country home is your last illustration.ANIMALS: Includes elephants, giraffes, bears, hippo, owls, dinosaur, aquatic etc. No many backgrounds, mostly a single animal per page. A delightful bulldog face greets you and a playful frog bids you farewell.GEOMETRIC SHAPES: My favorite! Lots of mandalas and tiny, tiny spaces to fill in. An expert can have a field day with some of these. Novice, intermediate and advanced colorists can use brush pens, colored pencils and gel pens to create a pleasing work of art.3. Nice smooth and hefty white paper. This paper is great! I only had bleed-through when I used a vibrant red marker.4. Good size book to grab and go. (8.5 x 8.5 x 3/16 inches) Will easily fit into a a small tote bag, backpack, large handbag/satchel or just hand carry.5. All lines are clearly defined and most are thin as opposed to bold thickness.6. The cover picture is included in all three (3) books. First on the title page and again on the coloring pages.7. Love the GEOMETRIC SHAPES and ANIMALS books. Most of the illustrations are probably best suited for intermediate skills, and might be definitely a hyper challenge for a newbie. There are a few very easy ones however.8. An added bonus. A web address, WWW.CREATIVELYCALMSTUDIOS.COM, that enables you to sign up for weekly images and a coloring club that offers some groovy stuff too. The weekly designs are really fun to color, and I really look forward to receiving one every Sunday morn.GRUMPS:1. Pictures on BOTH sides of the page. I am right-handed. I am not ambidextrous, and I found that I had to do lots of twisting, turning of both the book and my bod when I colored the left page illustrations. I suspect a left-handed person would have the same challenge when coloring the right side illustrations.2. Non perforated pages.3. Book will not stay open, while coloring, without weighting down the opposite page. I became rather miffed and frustrated when I focused my attention on my ringing phone, and the book tried to close and the nearby brush pen that I had been using flew through the air, first landing on my light colored pants and then on my costly carpet. No harm done….except it sorta’ raised my hackles!!!!!! That experience necessitated now using heavy clips on both sides of book when coloring.4. Slight bleed-through with dark brush pens. Light colors did not bleed-through. Colored leads and gel pens work beautifully for these books. Soft core pencils glide beautifully…..but may smear. Hard core requires more pressure than the soft core and may require repeated strokes to attain much color.What I used:Colored pencils: Soucolor, Colore, Marco Renoir, Ohuhu,, Marco Raffine, Prismacolor Scholar, LelixPens and brushes: Tombow Dual Brush, AmazaPens, Gel Gliders, Prismacolor Dual Brush.

I have a lot of adult coloring books. One would actually think I was building a collection or something. Anyway, I absolutely love adult coloring books and I'm happy to see them getting more attention these days as there are so many out there now to choose from. This item, this little collection of coloring books is just beautiful. The pictures are extremely detailed and ornate which is what makes it part of the adult coloring book genre but more than that I love that they took three of my favorite things to color and put them all together in one kit. The picture of the item makes the books look like school textbooks but they are actually rather small compared to an average sized coloring book. They have a lot of pictures in there to color so there's no shortage of activity. They are very uniquely drawn and I love the artistic flare that adds instead of just a plain picture to color. The artwork is phenomenal and I think any artist will appreciate it. I find myself wanting to take care with each picture but that's just me. If you don't mind keeping all of your work in these books inside the book then you'll have no problem with the fact that the pages are double sided and there is no perforation. It may be the artist did it this way on purpose and I'm the kind of person who just leaves everything in a book so I'm okay with it. My mom and I have decided that if it's that much of problem we can always scan and print if we want one for the kids to color outside of the book. I am so pleased with these books I hope to see more from the makers of it here on amazon.

Very relaxing just what you need to unwind for the summer. My daughter sent me adult coloring books because I was going to be off my feet for two weeks. It was not my first choice of something to do. I wasn't into the first page when I got lost in the process and forgot about my anke operation. My daughter is a teacher, I knew she would love these so I choose Creatively Calm Studios Books for her. PERFECT!The quality is very high grade. The pictures are great fun and there is so much to choose from. I sent her the gel pens to go with it and the colored pencils. Now I need to order gel pens for myself. We color together long distance. (smile) It brings me back to her childhood when we use to color together at the kitchen table. Now we are using major league coloring books. I would say adult coloring books do more than pass the time. It feeds your creative flow, balance your mind, joy in the beauty of the pictures and it's fun.

A friend of mine introduced me to the adult coloring books. A friend of hers sent her a book with colored pencils and she started coloring. She told me about it, and I purchased a few different books to try. One of the purchases was this set. I didn't realize when I purchased this set that I would also be receiving a weekly picture to color as well. The weekly pictures are so wonderful. You can print as many as you want of them. You can also keep the email so that you have access to the picture if you wanted to download it again to color. I never thought that coloring would be so therapeutic. It is definitely a nice stress beater. Definitely start coloring if you need to relieve some stress.This is a wonderful set of books. I have 2 small issues that are easy to fix. The first is that the books are a little small and there's pictures on both sides. It's hard to color each one because of the book being small, and getting the page to lay flat so that you can color is a little difficult. I hope that this issue is possibly going to change in the future books. The second is that I think the pages need to be a little thicker so that it doesn't bleed through the next picture when using gel pens, or colored markers.Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to the next book that you release.
