Of all my years landscaping and building gardens, this is one of the best purchases. We had a very hot summer of sparse rain so I purchased these and have been rotating them around to water the japanese maples, newly planted shrubs and ornamental shrubs that are not drought tolerant. These plants are doing very well despite little rain. The deep watering they promote also encourage the plant to put on new growth, despite being planted for just a few weeks. These are a fantastic addition for any contentious gardener.

Definitely a great option to keep soil moist after planting new shrubs. The water does leave the tubes quickly but that depends on how dry the soil is and if you've had rain. They area I just planted is extremely dry so I anticipated having to fill up the tubes at least twice a week.

We purchased these to help some new trees and other landscaping survive the hot summer. Great for deep root watering. Pleased with the product.

I had seen these at the local garden center but they were $60 a piece. Should have known that Amazon 2 for $40 was not a good deal. These lasted 10 days and then the plastic wore out and holes appeared everywhere. They were not exposed to any adverse weather only sun and 85 degrees. Do not buy!

I have 14 of these in concurrent use. I fill them all at least once most days. About once a week one will be clogged and doesn’t empty. I use my hose to reverse flush the drip valves and that takes care of it. The other thing about these is that on a hot day (~85F+) the fill opening can get soft and deformed making it hard to screw the cap on after filling. It can still be done by squeezing it back into circular-ish shape. The nice brown color fades very quickly. I like these a lot. They are less visually distracting and are less likely to touch or lean on the trunk than other kinds. The 20 gallon capacity is good. They do work best on level ground. If not level, they don’t empty fully. A hole tore in one, not even at a seam, and I don’t know how that happened as it was on the underside. I still use it, it just empties faster.

It appears the manufacturer has fixed the problem with the size of the inflation hole--it's plenty big to fit a standard hose. The material is also durable; good quality and construction. Because few terrains are even, I suggest putting the inflation hole at the top of an incline so gravity pulls the water toward the two release valves at the side at the same rate. Bag will need to be massaged to release the water that collects at the bottom, but on even surfaces, the water release lasted about a day.

In theory, this is a great concept. In reality, you spend a lot of time setting it up, filling it up and then the water drains out in ONE day. My expectation would be this would slow release over the course of several days while we were on vacation. The reality was all the water leaked out in one day when we tested it a few weeks before vacation. Also, they are HUGE. So it’s killing everything else around the base of our arborvitae’s. I would not recommend or purchase again.
