I swear by this thing, it’s in my pocket on every furnace call I go to. I bought a second one just in case I lose the first. There’s only been maybe one or two systems I haven’t been able to get it to work on but they were oddball manufacturers. Definitely a must have for any service tech.

This thing is strong and better then the Supco tool because that’s only used for a flat door switch. The magnets on this Alligator are strong. This is the second one I’ve purchased because I left it at a customers home.

We used tape at my last job, does the job but my new employer wants us to take tape off when we leave because we are disabling a safety. Thought this device would be a handy timesaver. It does work on some door switches, but the magnets aren't the strongest. The round end with the slot didn't hold the door switches very well. It's high profile and gets bumped/knocked off easily. Which is frustrating. Some of the guys buy $5 dollar magnets that work on a lot of furnaces. I already have enough annoying magnetic tools that stick in my tool bag. I use the small woodworking type ratcheting clamp. This tool, that costs double or triple the price of the other options, gets left in my truck.

Helpful little tool to keep in the tool bag when on service calls, especially pm's. Only found one furnace so far that it wouldn't work on, but dozens that it worked great for. My only complaint is that I didn't order 2 for when im working on twinned units.

One of the magnets came off first time I used it, not sure but I don't believe you shouldn't have to fix something that's new. Hopefully the super glue fixed it. Only time will tell.

I saw a friend use this and was amazed because it is so simple. It holds down furnace switches magnetically and it works on all different kinds of detent switches allowing you to run and work on the insides of a furnance/fan with the door open or off. Its like that third hand you really need. I've already tried it on four different switches (varying height and style) and it held the down tight. When I'm done, I stick it on any metal tool in my bag and its there for next time. I would recommend this tool to any professional HVAC tech.
