The surface is vary rough, havent installed into bench. Undecided as to if i even want to use it.

It's a bit rough... can ewal with that but there are no red inserts. If I had those I probably wouldn't return it.

This product has the potential to be a best seller if the manufacturer had paid a bit more attention to finish and function. There is an obvious lack of quality control in the manufacturing process. The central hole was poorly made and a had sharp edges and raised serrations all around, enough to cut fingers and at the very least dig into and damage any workpiece that would have to pass over it. It came with two red plastic inserts that were of different thickness with one being slightly proud of the work surface and one being lower than the work surface making them next to useless for their purpose. Other reviewers have said that the table inserts they received were not flat, mine was flat but looked like it had been kicked around the factory floor!

I knew from other review that I'd be taking a chance but gave it a shot hoping that the one I received would be nice and flat. Nope, it wobbled like a weeble from the 70's. I imagine one could force it to lay flat with the screws but the router table does not need stress a four screw holes. Going for a brand name insert plate hoping they are much better.

I have an old Craftsman router table with a plastic plate. It flexes with time and temperature. I want to replace it with an aluminum plate. All I can find is the plate is too large or small. However, this plate is 0.75cm larger on both sides, but after I trimmed it fits nicely and flat on my old router table. I highly recommend to woodworkers that if you have an old router table with a plastic plate replace it with this well-made aluminum plate.

I love this router table insert, and it will work just fine for my old Sears router. Oh, I have to drill 3 holes but you can take your Sears plate off the router and turn this upside down and the holes to drill are already there. Just drill them out, countersink on top side, and mount your router. Wear leather gloves before you do all this of course and sand the edges. I used a whetstone, then 400 grit gray Wet/Dry paper (wet it works best) and sand the sharp edges! Why this Chinese Manufacturer doesn't hire 'finishers' to properly SAND THE EDGES is pathetic! American Tool makers always had SMOOTH edges,,and you never feared cutting yourself from the sharp edges. I got the $ to pay a little extra for quality. Charge more money, and make a great product. I should change this to 3 stars, at best, due to the sharp edges. Hello,,,SHARP EDGES,,,have to spend time FIXING what should have been done!

Der hier angebotene Fräseinsatz ist vom Grundgedanken her gut. Jedoch ist dieser schlecht verarbeitet und nur mit nacharbeiten zu gebrauchen.

This is not an expensive router table insert plate but even so the seller should wrap the large stainless steel height-adjustment screw in some cardboard or brown paper so that it doesn't mar the plate's aluminum surface. The one I received was dinged and scratched. The plate is inside a plastic baggie that offers little protection against such marring by the steel screw.
