I got this to extend my rc-2248 surfacing bit to reach the spoilboard on my Bob's cnc machine. After searching online for a bit extender there were only 2 options and neither had great reviews, but I didn't have much of choice other than just try one. I noticed many of the people that said their extender bit said they shoved it all the way into the holder as far as it would go. I chose not to do that and actually put it at the line that is clearly marked on the tool. I ran the surfacing toolpath only .01 deep and the feed rate at 100 with the Dewalt router on my machine at 6, max rpms. I saw someone in the reviews say it worked well for them with the router on the lowest setting, which I find very hard to believe. It sounded horrible at that setting, but once all the way up it hummed nicely.I got a nice even surface on the spoilboard now.

I don't know if the material used is cheap or if a 1/4" Shank is just too small for an extender. Bent on first use, very dangerous.

Purchased 3 months ago- the tool didn't last long. I was using it on Makita router for a hobby CNC and only made it through 10-12 hours of cutting before the shaft broke.

I installed this extension in a Dewalt DWP611 compact plunge router for use with a Whiteside1372B Bowl and Tray Bit. With the router set to the lowest speed of 16,000 RPM, I made an initial pass 2/16 to 3/16 inch. Within 30 seconds my router experienced a wobble that soon became so severe I was unable to safely toggle the power switch on the router. I was able to unplug the router just as the extension adapter bent about 60 degrees. Upon further research I determined that in fact this bit is not intended for the use in a router. In conclusion, my lack of diligence and lack of understanding of the capability of this extension put me in harms way.

I bought this extension so I could get down further using a router sled. When I started the router up I could tell the bit was not balanced properly and ended up bending the shank with minutes using a Milwaukee cordless router. If your reading this please do not buy this product, very poorly made and extremely dangerous!! I made a mistake ignoring all the bad reviews and look, same thing happened to me! Just glad I walked away unhurt.

Used this on my router sled. I had to turn the speed to the lowes RPM on my 1/4" Dewalt router (8000 rpm i think). It worked fine at low speed but when i was testing it first it seemed wobbly at higher speeds. If you need an extension like this for a 1/4" i would go for it. Just be careful with it as others have stated it breaks. Not many others on the market for 1/4" so this would probably be your best bet.

I have purchased this product to extend my Router cutters while using my sign templates, because the regular size cutters do not reach beyond the template and barley scored the wood. I find it t be excellent and does the job well. Caution when you install the shank on the extension and the cutter on the extension be certain that the shanks are all the way in. I am very pleased with this extension and would recommend it as a vital tool to accompany your router.

Beefier than I needed for routing out wooden bowls with a template ant 2-3 hp router, but it should do the trick
