Let me first say this box is not bad at all for a prefab box. It's actually pretty good, especially for the price. I used a signal generator to put a 25hz to 45 hz tone through it. Based on my ear the box sounded loudest at 36 hz. Which seems about where I would think it would be based on box size and port dimensions. It struggled below 28 hz and at 20 and below, well, there's really no point. It falls off pretty steady from 36 hz to 28 hz (half volume) and then falls off dramatically. The fall off from 36 hz to 55 hz seems to be steady with 55 hz being half volume. It falls off pretty quickly above 60 hz.This is a double baffle box. You will need glue to secure the two baffles together. You can either cut the top baffle to recess the sub or leave it as is like I did and run it as a double baffle.NOTE: The cutouts are conservatively cut. Meaning you may need to make them slightly larger to fit your subs. The subs I am using are old new stock M.A. Audio 1000XL subs from 2004ish that were never used and packed in their original packaging. I had to enlarge the cutout by about 1/8th inch. I just used 24 grit sandpaper and did it by hand. Took about 1.5 hours per cutout to enlarge. It is by far much better that the hole is a little small to start.Image 1: That's right after I finished enlarging the cutouts and was able to mount the subs. The baffles aren't even glue at this point. The dust you see is from sanding the cutouts.Image 2: The baffles are glued and my Kenwood KAC-7005PS amp is attached to the side. Along with the Taramp LED 90 PSU.Image 3: This is a close up of one of the terminals. It will fit 8 gauge. But they are somewhat cheaply made. I am using some scrap 14 gauge while I wait for my 12 gauge wire to come in.Image 4: This is what caused me to downgrade this box to 4 stars. There is a couple of small gaps where the wood ends didn't fit perfectly. But the gaps were filled in by glue and are sealed. It doesn't affect the sound quality but it likely would affect the longevity of the box, especially if you were running a lot of power. I am running 500 RMS and I suspect the box will hold up just fine. Conclusion: It's a good prefab that's worth the price and looks nice.

The box worked very well for my two NEP 10" subs. They hit extremely hard way down low, but lacked a little range up in the higher Hz. I would recommend a sealed box if your going for sound quality, but if you're trying to get the most SPL out of a couple cheapo subs like I was trying to do, well then this box should work for you pretty good. For a big pre-fab enclosure, constructed out and of 3/4" MDF, including paintable trim rings, priced under $150 and shipped to your Home's front door, it's a pretty dang good deal.I pre-drilled all my subwoofer mounting holes and installed machine screw threaded inserts. This way I eliminated all the problems associated with removing and reinstalling the subwoofers when using regular wood screws. Which anyone who has done this before knows all about the mounting hole mess/nightmare your enclosure turns into after only a couple times pulling your subs in and out. It's impossible to avoid destruction of the mounting holes... That is, unless you install threaded inserts!I also used some silicone on all the seams and joints inside the box and around the connector terminal cups. Then I stuffed the interior with poly fill prior to installing my subs in it.Just make sure you prep the trim rings well before spraying them. I just quickly shot some cheap blue spray paint on mine without doing ANY prep, and it didn't take much to flake some paint off. After this I ended up wrapping my trim rings with carbon fiber vinyl wrap. It turned out awesome! But it was pretty difficult to do cleanly.Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of it and ended up selling the enclosure with my car.The speaker connectors are pretty delicate, and wouldn't take too much pressure from over tightening the speaker terminals to break them.Overall for the price paid for the quality product I received, I would totally recommend this enclosure! After all the fine touches I added to this box, It was about as nice as you can get in any pre fab enclosure!
