Straight plastic garbage. Broke without being useable. Do not! I repeat DO NOT use this for self defense purposes. The one I purchased is in the recycle bin. Not functional, nor practical. Buy ANYTHING ELSE.

Easy and simple….just push in with no turning or whatever to release cartridges. My only problem with this particular speed loader is it hits the thumb rest on my grips, thus not allowing a straight insertion. Too bad… I have this same speed loader for a .22 revolver that has 9 cartridges, and it works wonderfully.

.38 works fine, but won’t unlock loading .357 into ruger lcr when I pushed it.

I use this with a S&W J Frame revolver and it works great. Someone mentioned this won't work with an S&W 642, and no speed loader with work with a stock 642. Unless you modify the grips on the cylinder swing out side. These cylinders are too close to the frame to allow any speed loader to function unless you're willing to cut out the grips. to accommodate them. Like someone else mentioned you will want to put a string on the cap that covers the rounds if you plan to use this for personal protection. This will allow you to get the cap off quickly should the need arise. I'm honestly surprised to find that I like this revision cv .38 Special/.357 Magnum Ammo Pod for S&W J-frames and Ruger LCRs as well as I do. I've used HKS speedloaders since the mid-Eighties and Safariland Comp IIs since the early Nineties as well as zeta6 J-Paks and J-Clips, CKT Tactical Ripcords, Bianchi Speed Strips, DeSantis Swift Strips and the 5 Star aluminum speedloaders for this style/size revolver. My previous preferences were the Safariland Comp IIs, the zeta6 J-Clips and J-Paks and they're all good, but Mr. Vang has a product here that beats all of these for my use. Simple, FAST, easy to operate, trustworthy and reliable - and also priced decently and available. I don't find that the rubbery cover pops off as quickly as it might, but it was easy to address the issue with some strategic lubrication and better too tight than too loose! Locking the ammo into the clips is MUCH simpler and faster than even on the one-piece zeta6 products and just seems impossible to mess up when compared to the Safariland Comp II. While all these devices are reasonably quick to load a cylinder, the revision cv Ammo Pod is the fastest for me. The fact that it works just fine with both a J-frame and an LCR is a real bonus for me, too. I intend to buy more now that I've tried this one out.

I tried several a couple of the more popular brands and after watching a YouTube presentation on the need to file the stock grips down, I was about to give up. I bought an Ammo Pod and not only does it fit an unmodified grip, but the unlocking method is so simple that it saves time over conventional twist knob speed loaders.It is made of plastic and does have spring actuated moving parts, so my caveat is only time will tell how durable it is. In terms of deign, it is perfect. I'd like to see the manufacturer replicate the product in aluminum.

The speed loaders work perfectly in the five shot J frame. The body of the speed loader is thin enough to clear the frame and grip so that the round seat better into the cylinder. The push function release makes it easy to drop the rounds in and if your pistol is pointed downward when reloading all you have to do is pinch the center post with your loading hand and pull up and the rounds will drop right into place. They’re very fast and the function works good when reloading without looking at the pistol or in the dark. They’re also durable enough to drop after a reload without damage from hitting the ground multiple times. I use them for both 38 caliber and 357 magnum and have not seen any issues from either As far as hanging up when loading. There is just enough movement or slight rattle in the rounds to help them find their place in the cylinder when loading as opposed to loaders that hold the rounds firmly which makes it more difficult when loading quickly or on the fly. I can’t speak for other manufacturers but for Smith & Wesson J frame these are by far the best I have used and I have tried them all. You also can’t beat the price.
