Easy install since the pillars were dimpled for install with the bed mat at the factory. Just need one additional part from vendor. It came with only one strap latch insert. Calling Monday for the kit 74603-01a. Install was about 40 minutes. Very pleased. Much better than oem, you don’t lose the space in the corners. I was lucky enough to get one at half price, Used in new condition. So it was an exceptional value.

Bought this for my sons 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4X4, I saw some guy on the web install it on his truck but different year, its not listed as fitting my sons truck, but I did not want the recommended one shaped like a Vee. I think they are concerned with it hitting the wheel wells or something. Any ways If you want max space usage this works great! already used it for lumber and trip to the Dump! We had to adjust the clamps on his truck bed cover but not a big issue. They recommend these L brackets (AMP Research 74601-01A BedXTender HD Bracket Kit,Black$30.00) and lever quick release clips(AMP Research 74605-01A Quick Latch Bracket Kit for 1984-2021 All Models , Black $35.40) to mount it, but I didn't need to use the L brackets. I did install the Quick release lever brackets, but you probably don't need them either. I wasted money on those "recommended" items because this was my first attempt at installing one of these things and I didn't want to be left hanging because of needing some "extra" piece.Dont get those extras and save yourself 65 bones! But as you can see it fits perfectly!

Despite Amazon's claim that this product will not fit my 2018 Toyota Tacoma, I was able to install it in my vehicle, as some other reviews say and if fits very nicely. Amazon claim on this matter is misleading and should be updated.The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because the installation instructions could be better, which triples installation time. By the way; this particular model has a nicer look and gives you more usable space than the V shape one they officially recommend for the newer Tacoma models. Just be aware that since this product fits different vehicles, the installation instructions are only general, but not precise enough for each truck. You have to study and check your installation first, rather than blindly following the instructions without double checking first.Installation could be done in half an hour but because you have to experiment with the product for a perfect fit, it may take up to three hours, but I have to say; it is worth it. You will be happy with the result, Just don't do it in a hurry.Other than that I love this product. Here are some tips to save time for others installing in the recent Tacoma models:1. Rather than following the installation instructions order and installing the quick mount brackets first using the printed templates, and then assemble the bed extender pipes is better to assemble it first (without tightening), put the brackets on the assembly and test where they will be placed; before drilling holes2. If you have the bedliner installed, use the longer printed template (you can get them from the AMP research website, without the steps that do not apply for the Tacomas) 3. I trimmed the longer template as if I did not have the bedliner (testing I realized that if I had trimmed the template in the dotted line, I would lose usable space, so in order to have the end of the bed extender further back I trimmed the template on the solid line rather than the trimmed one and I liked the result. 4. Tacomas require to change the strap buckle insert should be changed for the provided thinner one.5. I have a tonneau cover installed by the dealer without any interference with the bed extender installation or function. Since there is plenty of clearance I think is likely to work well with any tonneau cover.6. You can add some sturdy plastic baskets for extra control of smaller items (groceries, etc. ) to be placed within the bed extender. The metal is light but strong, which makes it easy to handle but also dependable. It is a new install.. All looks good so far. I recommend this product.

I purchased this for a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, and it first perfectly. You do have to allow some adjustment if you put in the factory bed liner, but that's only raising the hardware up about 1/2" or so. I've used this on my 5' short bed to extend it to 6.5', which allows me to easily transport plywood, 8' lumber, and other objects that might not fit so well into the back.I did do one modification to this product though, and that was to throw away the original mounting hardware. There is a "quick release" hardware that's available from AMP that allows you to pull a lever towards you on each side to help release it when the factory tonneau cover is down or your long load is in the way. This is super convenient and allows for much easier handling of the bed extender. I do recommend locking your tailgate whenever you have it with you, as it's very lightweight and can be easily stolen. When the tailgate is locked, you can't reach the levers to push them open, as they rest against the closed tailgate, so theft won't be an issue with them.The only "complaint" I have with the product is the supplied straps that hook into the tailgate latch. They are made of plastic and secured with an allen screw through the center of it. Mine is already loose, but to be fair I don't really use them. Most of the loads I carry are ratchet strapped down and that keeps things from bouncing around.Overall a very solid product.P.S. Do NOT use power tools when assembling the bars and plastic pieces together. I stripped one screw without thinking, and that was with gentle pressure. I immediately switched to using a screwdriver after that and had no issues with screws getting stripped out.
