Great product. Their youtube video walks you through installation easy enough. No fit issues but I suggest raising the stencil by an inch or so.

Does what its supposed to. Happy with purchase, 2018 taco, easy install but I may have gone a little to fast.... Only complaint is due to my error. I measured 3 times, but somehow got the one side just a hair higher than the other side. So it's a little (just a hair) higher on one support than the other. My OCD is telling to pull it apart, re-drill and reattach, but I wont drill anymore holes into my truck for this mod. It'll do its job well as is and no one can notice.... but MEASURE AND DRY FIT 4 OR 5 TIMES TO ENSURE ITS SET UP RIGHT!!!

I put this on my 2020 double cab short bed Toyota Tacoma. Assembly was not bad, but installation was a little nerve-wracking since I had to drill into the bed and I was not completely sure if I had the right spot with my added bed mat. I just added some height to account for that and it worked out great. I have put it to use about 5 times in the few weeks since I installed it. It works great for the short bed!

Love the bed extender, AMP research makes a quality product. I installed this on a 2021 Tacoma and the fit was perfect. Assembly and installation was super easy. I do not use the templates, the easiest way is to get it assembled to the proper width and set it in place with the mounting brackets on the extender making sure it is level. Then use masking tape to mark where the bracket needs to be. Then remove the brackets from the extender and hold them in place against your tape lines. Mark one hole and drill it, I used a 1/8 drill bit, its slightly smaller than 9/64 and you get a nice tight screw. Then mount the bracket with the one screw, you can drill the other two holes with the bracket installed avoiding a hole not being lined up. Anyway, it’s super easy. Make sure you take note of where your tailgate is when its closed, also make sure the extender seats on the tailgate when its down before you drill holes. On the tacoma my bracket is just about even with the inside edge of the panel the bracket mounts to.

Looks great, fits great, really pleased I finally made the purchase. Got this mainly for hauling items with the extender turned in to the bed. I often carry smaller loads and with the factory 3 piece flip up tonneau cover, was always having to open it or climb under to get my loads that slid to the front. I had created a DIY cargo containment which was ok but wasn’t very pleasing to look at or work with.Installation was pretty straightforward, watch the YouTube video on AMP’s channel (there is one specifically for Tacomas). Follow the directions, the 7” measuring “template” for the bar spacing is just a perforated piece of the box, not obvious but it’s there. And if you can handle a drill and a screwdriver you should be fine. I checked the bracket template to make sure the bracket holes matched and they were spot on. Lined up the lower edge of the template with the top of the ridges in the bed, did a dry run with the extender to ensure good front to back location and clearance for the bed cover, marked and drilled. Took my time to measure and line up, only wanted to drill once. And there’s no prize for being the fastest. Would rather not have empty holes in my bed than have a record time. So go at your pace and get it right the first time. Overall, feels real solid installed and is a great option for keeping gear secured near the tailgate when my bed isn’t full and the cover is on. But I also look forward to utilizing extended storage space on the next camping trip or the next time a friend needs moving help.

Bed extender works fine but understand 2 things:1. This is made to fit multiple vehicles so there is some adjustment required. No big deal2. The template that came with my instructions does not match the brackets supplied. Luckily I noticed this before I drilled the holes in my bed. I just used the bracket itself as a template and put the lower hole 7 1/4" above the truck bed

I bought this for my 2018 Tacoma. Very glad buying this instead of the Toyota factory one. I really want the black and cleaner look of this. It's also a round up square bar for more beefy look instead of round tubular from the factory. The uprights have rubber caps on both sides so it won't scratch your truck bed.For those new Tacoma owners, the two uprights will sit on the raised ridge of the bed. Because of that, when install you will need to raise the template 5/8 inches from the bottom. Make sure to tape it and dry fit the assembled extender before punch and drill.After installing, the 1 st thing my 9 yr old asked was if he can sit on the bars, which exposed one of the weakness of the design: no support in the mid section. Good thing he asked 1 st otherwise pretty sure he will bend the top bar. If you share my concern, here is my solution: I purchased an additional upright from AMP research and added in the middle. It made it super strong now without making it look less clean to me. Better yet it provided extra tie down location for things that shift during driving. My last picture was with the middle upright added.Very good product and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to extend the bed once a while and also wants to compartmentalize the truck bed to prevent things sliding around.

This item comes exactly as advertised. It is lightweight, easy to install, and easy to remove when you don't need it. Or leave it on and just flip it into the bed of the truck when you don't need the bed extended. It's also great for keeping groceries or other smaller items contained near the back of the bed and from sliding around all over. This is a great accessory, especially for my short bed Tacoma in which it fit perfectly.
