Install went fairly easy following the directions. Only complaint is the strap that locks into tailgate locking mechanism is very hard to get into and I’ve only been able to lock one side.

Install required some drilling into the bed of my truck but if you're mechanically inclined the template makes it easy. The functionality is awesome. It is easy to remove and easy to put back on the truck... Great design... For these 4 door trucks with very short beds this is an awesome addition

I'd been looking for a bed divider to help keep stuff from rolling around the bed of my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. I had purchased (and quickly returned) a divider from GMC that didn't fit due to my tri-fold Tonneau cover. I hadn't considered a bed extender. I guess I just hadn't taken into consideration that it also serves as a divider when flipped inwards. I'm very glad I came across this item on Amazon. It was about half the price of the extender that I returned and I am extremely happy with it. It's light weight and easy to remove/replace. It does require some assembly and installation.I was a little disappointed that the manufacturer does not have an installation video available but luckily I did find a user submitted one on YouTube, specifically for my truck model. AMP Research should really consider doing this...The installation isn't difficult (once you know how everything goes... thanks YouTube) but does require you to remove your tail lights and drill two holes on each side. The instructions do include a VERY helpful template and everything fits perfect in the end.I absolutely recommend this item. Fits perfect with my GMC tri-fold Tonneau cover. It does not interfere with the rails from Tonneau cover and leaves enough space from the rop of the extender as well as from the side, so that the Tonneau cover can still easily be opened/closed.

Just finished installing the BedXTender HD Max on my 2014 GMC sierra crew cab. It fits easily with a 3 fold (4 panel) low profile tonneau cover. Also installed easily with me having a LineX spray on bed liner. Installation itself didn't require any fancy tools or professionals - easy to do at home. When extended, it secures down via the tailgate latch. Rotates smoothly between inside the bed and extended with easy complete removal if needed for larger items. Lightweight and easy to maneuver, yet feels sturdy. I anticipate I'll be using it mostly to contain smaller items in the bed without having them slide around (i.e. groceries and such). Would definitely recommend buying this.

The only downside side was drilling for into a new truck to install but...., if done as per directions there’s nothing to worry about. Anyone that’s seen it also wants it!

This bed extender was super easy to install. I did have to take out my tail lights in order to drill the holes for the mounting brackets. But it was easy. The extender is easy to take out and re install when needed. It does add more space to haul items. Overall I say it is well worth it.

My biggest concern when buying this for my 2015 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab was whether it would impede access to the rear latch handles on my HardHat brand tri-fold tonneau cover when the extender was inside the bed.. I am happy to say it does not interfere with them -- see photo. Plenty of room to latch or unlatch them with the extender folded in. Installation was pretty easy. Most challenging part was fitting my fat fists in the spaces behind the taillights where you have to put the nuts that hold the brackets in place (get some thin cotton work gloves - very sharp edges!)- the rest was easy since I had the necessary tools -- torque wrench for 22 lbs, torx drivers (for taillight removal and for extender assembly - different sizes), metric wrenches and sockets (13mm), 1/8" and 21/64" drill bits, center punch, automotive masking tape, etc. I'm pretty slow and methodical and a perfectionist - took between 2 and 3 hours alone. Have to open both rear tonneau panes to swing the extender in or out but that's a breeze. Easy to remove and reinstall, too. Lightweight and sturdy. There is a left and right side if you don't want the straps to twist when you latch it down to the tailgate but, as I said, I'm a perfectionist. I'd choose this again. I like that it is full width rather than tapered to middle.

So far so good, just got it & installation is simple. You will need a drill, hole punch, drill bits (smaller one to start the hole & larger to finish it. Step drill is what is needed if you have one), 1/2 inch wrench, and 1/2 socket, t-25, & tt-15. 1st take the tail lights off so that you can use the template to drill the holes. Once you drill both sides, then you can put the xtender HD together. How I did it was attach both ends of the xtender HD to the truck, then measure how far the middle pieces will slide into the ends (just need to measure & mark 1 piece). After that then you take one end off & attach all 3 pieces to the other end making sure to note the measurement, attach the other side & measure b4 you tighten everything down. This works great with my soft tri-fold cover, although I have to either fold the cover twice so that it can clear the cover to extend or remove. Overall I’m happy with it & it was cheaper than what the dealer wanted. Only thing is the plastic clamps for the tailgate seems cheap, but it’s no big deal.
