The objective lens works fine with my microscope. I had to clean it up a ton because the lens was left in its little plastic lens case unprotected in a plastic unpadded envelope. The plastic case was cracked badly and shattered when I unscrewed the cap. The lens itself was banged up with scratches and some of the rubber grip was ripped off from the violent travel experience. It took a while for me to clean it up before being able to use it. I’m thoroughly disappointed with this because the plastic lens housing is destroyed so I have no protection for it from dust. The plastic housing is an important piece for an objective lens. Please don’t ship this way. I will not be shopping here again because I now have a scratched up, torn rubber grip lens that thankfully works. Hopefully the rubber won’t completely fall off. I’m giving 2 stars instead of one because the lens luckily works.

I'm using this with my Nikon polarizing microscope to give me a wider field of view for a preliminary scan of rock thin sections. Rather than buying a Nikon objective for >>$300, I was hoping that this $49 objective would serve, because it didn't really need to be perfectly distortion free for my purpose. Well, as it turns out, I really don't see any distortion, chromatic or otherwise and it does give me about double the field of view of my 4x objective. As a bonus, it also happens to focus pretty close to focus of my three Nikon objectives. I'm totally happy with it and for $49 it can't be beat.

Don't waste your time with this, just get a 4X objective.First time AmScope has let me down so far. I was hoping to use it to take pictures of some larger computer chips which are hard to photograph at 4X, but it is way too blurry. The best focused region is too small and the edges are distorted more than is acceptable for this price.I payed ~$80 for this, I would have expected this performance from something worth less than $30.Shipping was fast and it was delivered early at least. Packaging was adequate.3 Stars because it feels well built, the rubber grip is nice and it was delivered fast.

The unit is good, except for the fact that the working distance is quite short. Shorter than a 10X objective.

Hello Everyone,I originally purchased this item because I was trying to identify a type of egg on my slide samples. I had a lot of slides to ID and they were fairly large so I thought this would help me speed up the process. While the image clarity is OK, which is what I've grown used to on the AmScope lenses, the FOV was extremely small. While the objects I was looking at were indeed 'smaller' and more space was covered in the given field, the actual amount of slide viewing capability was not increased. If you are looking at very very big objects and want to see more of them in less space...I don't know. Actually as I'm trying to think of a useful way to use this I'm coming up short. I think that in general, very little is gained from this opposed to using a 4X.

Usually the lowest magnification of a microscope is 40x. Sometimes you need a lower magnification, e.g. to take a picture of a larger part of a slide. This is what I use this objective for. It fits any microscope (at least made by Amscope) since it has a standard mounting thread. However one has to be aware that it cannot be used with any microscope because of its focal distance. For example it cannot be used with an Amscope PZ-300T (originally equipped with plan achromatic objectives) but works with a M500 (achromatic objectives). Plan achromatic objectives have a much larger flat field than the achromatic ones, but work at a larger distance from the stage.

I have purchased several pieces of optical equipment from Amscope over the last couple of years and have always found them to be an excellent value. This little objective is no exception. The clarity and resolution is phenomenal for such a low priced lens. To be honest though, it is at its best with a 15 - 20 power eyepiece. I bought it because I wanted the additional working distance between the objective and stage. My faith in Amscope products remains intact.

Despite the good packing, the objective lens was too dirty to use until it was cleaned -- not particularly hard to do if you are careful. Otherwise it was a trouble-free order for a quality product. The low power and wide field adds a lot to the usefulness of my hobby-grade microscope. The optical quality seems very good and I expect this lens will get a lot of use. I already have a 4X objective. It's well worth the investment and I'm happy with the purchase. The milling and finish look good, but there was no country of origin shown on the lens or packing.--John
