The craftsmanship of the inlay wood and the metal sides around it gives it a unique appearance. The proper balance and weight on my Rega turntable is achieved giving me better sound before.

This is one classy looking record damping weight. It is certainly the nicest I've ever seen, and I'm a multi-decade vinyl aficionado. More importantly, it works GREAT. It makes any record sparkle, even Dick Contino music. Just kidding. We don't have any of those records. One of our records specifically tells us to avoid those records, actually. But each of the records we DID experiment with benefited from having this weight applied.Anyhow, this is a gorgeous looking weight, and works really well to add that extra oomph to your record spinning. I would suggest it to any audiophile.

At the risk of fetishizing an inanimate object, I have to say that this product is like a work of art. You realize this the moment you open its square black box and press into the foam nest to grasp the knurled circumference. Upon lifting, you apprehend the heft of its multi-material composition. It is essentially this: a soft grippy rubber bottom surface; a chromed metal centerpiece; a hardwood topper covering the spindle hole. For me and perhaps yourself as well, listening to music via vinyl recordings is often a near spiritual, ritualistic activity. The penultimate act of placing this fine object on the platter just before the needle finds the groove is, well, part of the process. Of course, it’s also true that fine stereo equipment aesthetically demands satisfaction of the like for like principal. This object checks both those boxes. It possesses all the beautiful gravitas and design ethos of an Eames chair. But does it fulfill its primary function of keeping an LP affixed to the platter during a spin cycle? In a word, yes. The weight is considerable, but not enough to overly strain a turntable motor. As mentioned, the label contacting surface is soft and provides good friction. The right and left of center pictures I’ve included show, drilling has been Performed to at least a 100th place, so no “camming” eccentricities should occur. The crosshatching on the metal will ensure no untoward drops occur on the platter or vinyl. And the hardwood disc topper allows you to visualize the spindle for a precise placement without eroding the rubber.Yes, it is a bit on the pricey side. But it will serve for decades, and more, with beauty and functionality.
