The bell itself is sturdy and looks better than it did on line, especially for the price. The only thing I didn't like is the rope around the ringer. I replaced it with nylon rope and it actually rings better.

The bell is more decorative than functional. We want to hear when the door is being opened. The rope attached to clapper is not strong enough or perhaps long enough to actually “ring” the bell. We probably need a bigger bell. Your service is great though…

Using the bell for our dog to ring when he needs out to potty. The thick rope makes it easy to grab. Sometimes takes a few tries to make a loud enough ring. Really like the style and works well for it's purpose.

Should have paid attention to other's reviews. This bell is pretty much useless for the intended purpose. I have tried to find a way to modify it but still haven't been successful. The braided rope is too light-weight to cause the bell clapper to do much in the way of ringing the bell. This bell would be best suited for when walking out of a restaurant you can ring the bell for good service, pretty much in the same way that some others said they use it at a door for a dog to ring when needing to go outside.
