The hole that the seal goes into wasn’t round. Cover is flimsy and cheap.

The timing gear housing cover was poorly stamped and not properly de-burred. It appears that the stamping process was incomplete. The seal hole should have been a straight bore that the seal would be pressed into but the stamping left a ridge in the bore. The positioning stop, included with the cover to facilitate the installation of the oil seal, would not fit in the seal hole without de-burring the part. I could not use the part and returned for a refund all the while my truck sets out of service waiting on a new cover.
