This is old school Army, and under a boonie hat in summer you can wet it with cold water and stay cool while being protected from sun, insects and so forth. Very nice. Recommend.

This product has a very coarse texture and isn’t soft at all. That said, it appears to be somewhat firm and sturdy, and has decent thickness. I do not recommend this for covering your face, but it could be used as a headscarf/headband (see my photo for use as a headband).

I have 3 other large size I got from an army surplus. They've lasted me 10 years and are now getting holes in them. This lasted a month and a half and ripped as soon as I opened the package. It feels very fragile, and rough to the skin. You could poke a hole through it with a finger. It finally ripped to shreds after the 8th or so time in the washer. I used it specifically for my head when I work out.

I bought a different scarf before buying this one. Though it was useable, I couldn't use it for my intended purposes. This time I was smart. I measured one of my scarves before I ordered this one. I wanted this scarf to tie around my hair while at home, because I'm busy. This scarf takes care of my uncombed hair until I get dressed to go out. It's the same size as my prior two: 27 inches by 27 inches, just like my prior two that I had for years and years. I got pretty desperate when both of my scarves wound up with holes in them, from hairpins. The type of stores that sold the scarves aren't around anymore. Maybe I could find them in a big fancy Department Store, but I haven't the time or energy to shop from store to store. So I was very fortunate when I found this one. I'm not sure why it is called a "Military Scarf". It's just a plain Black Scarf to me. Someone mentioned in their review that it's see through, but it is no more see through than my other Black Scarves. And it isn't see through when it is worn. The material is similar to one of my scarves. I couldn't expect it to be just like both of them. As far as the price goes, even if I paid about $5.00 years ago, I'm happy that the price now isn't to much of a difference. I will be buying this scarf again. Maybe even some different colors.

Okay, I don't "love it" because of it's enormity, but it is everything that it is advertized to be, so it deserves 5 stars. I have a huge head, so I need a big bandana, but this this thing is beyond ample. It keeps my head warmer on cooler rides, so that's nice, but it does make my helmet fit pretty tight. This thing is very well made, so I have I feeling I will be passing it down to my great-grand-kids some day. If I don't use for anything else, I guess I could use it for a hammock.
