I got this to sprinkle powdered sugar on my baked goods! Does exactly what I wanted it to!

I bought this shaker specifically to use with fine grain popcorn salt. The only thing negative I can say about it is that the retention of the top is not very good, it easily works loose. Be careful when using to ensure it doesn't fall off unless you really like eating straight salt.

Seems to be a good grade stainless steel. The mesh screen is, indeed, very fine. I will probably buy more so I can dedicate one to sugar, one to flour, etc.

LOVE this shaker! I bought the 10-ounce size rather than the 4-ounce size for the lid alone :o) I purchased 2 - one for flour (I bake a lot of bread and wanted a 'flour shaker' to flour my surface quick and easy) and one for 10x sugar -- because of the fine mesh top - it accomplishes the job so well without a giant mess. The inner lid (with the fine mesh) was pretty easy to remove (it's a twist and pull) - very happy I got them!

I was looking for a shaker to use to put baking soda and essential oil in to make a DIY carpet deodorizer and then sprinkle on my carpet. While this shaker is a bit expensive for such a simple use, it is perfect for what I use it for.

Ok, there is no way to rate a product that is solid, but arrives without the plastic sealing caps. I noted other reviews that complained of the same problem. These are well built, screw on tightly lids, and the holes are large enough to pass the grated cheese that I wanted to put into them. However, without a plastic cap to seal the contents this will just spill all over, dry out, and not perform as I wish. For that ever reason, look elsewhere for your shaker as these do not come as advertise.

This little stainless steel shaker is the perfect size for the small amount of baking I do. It dusts things perfectly.Regarding the review that they couldn't get the cap off, my experience is that the cap goes on and off beautifully. I can't figure out their issue unless they didn't realize it is a "lock" design. You line up the little dot on the cap with the "L" grove on the canister. You push the cap down into that grove and twist to lock it. Twist back the opposite way and pull up and it's very fluid and easy to remove. Wondering if they possibly jammed the cap on without lining those up or didn't try twisting it, then pulling. When properly aligned it fits snug, so it would likely be very tight if it was popped on without lining it up. I am not going to jam mine to figure it out though. It's great quality! I am pleased with the one I have owned for four years now.Not sure if it makes a difference, but I do handwash mine too and don't keep it around the stove. That thought occurred to me too after pondering the other person's review more about it jamming. I was concerned that a very hot dishwasher or stove heat could cause it to swell or misshapen, especially over time. I know you can ruin stainless steel pans with high heat because I learned that lesson the hard way and warped the bottom of my expensive kettle. That's why I thought a dishwasher could perhaps do the same thing to that thin metal cup. I chose to handwash it and, so far, have had no problems.I bought mine directly from Amazon. I wouldn't let the negative review stop you from purchasing it. If you receive a defective one and you bought it directly from Amazon, they have an easy return policy.

This review would have helped me make my decision, so I'm writing to help you potential customers. I uploaded some pictures for you to get a better idea of its construction and 'shake pattern'. The pattern shown was the result of one firm shake about 6" (15 cm) above the table. The cap fits snugly from two dents in the cap that slide over two L-shaped grooves pressed into the side of the can; a partial turn of the cap secures it to the can quite well. The screen is attached to the cap in a manner that makes it relatively easy to clean by rinsing; i.e., particles do not loge themselves into areas where they're difficult to remove. The screen is also tightly fixed to the cap and is thick enough wire that, with reasonable care, should last you a lifetime.
