About this item

  • Atlas Salt Mill
  • 9 Inch Copper and Brass Salt Mill
  • Hand Made in Greece
  • Matches the 404 Pepper Mill
  • Nylon Grinding Mechanism

Copper & Brass Salt Mill. Our pepper mills are highly distinguished because of their beauty and their durability. The grinding mechanism in our mill is larger than in any other mill made, they grind about seven times the pepper than a commonly available mill can produce, in addition to their durability.

Copper flaking off. Used for pepper. Thought it would hold-up but not worth the price if it corrodes like this.

I bought it to go with my Atlas pepper mill that I love and was not disappointed. Excellent product, however the handle fit could be a bit better, but it works just fine.

First off I'd like to say I really like this item IMMENSELY! It's beautifully crafted and goes well with the copper and brass accents throughout my Kitchen. I've always wanted one, which adds to my disappointment in finding plastic Grinder teeth instead of stainless steel. There was a small but noticeable chip on the teeth disk already in Brand New condition. I've found through personal experience/use that these plastic teeth break off with grinder use, end up in your food and hurt your dental issues to find out, and eventually cause an unfixable jam or later become useless and no longer grind from wearing down smooth. Later on, I viewed a Scientific PBS show that studied Toxicity amongst Micro Plastic Particles in our food and the entire food chain. All of it steeming from all the plastics we use. NOTE TO THE MANUFACTURER: PLEASE CHANGE BACK TO STAINLESS STEEL TEETH ON THE PEPPER & SALT GRINDER MILLS FOR BOTH HEALTH/ENVIRONMENT ISSUES BUT ALSO FOR PRODUCT DURABILITY AND LONGEVITY. $70.00 + PLUS IS A WAY TOO EXPENSIVE TO END UP WITH A NON-FUNCTIONAL KITCHEN ORNAMENT! I WANT TO IMPRESS MY DINNER GUEST WITH A BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED ARTISAN PEPPER MILL. THANK YOU!

This has been designed thoughtfully for salt. The interior is lined with plastic, and it's a plastic (tough nylon, I bet) grinder as well. This isn't being cheap! This is protecting the metals from the corrosive effects of salt. It amazes me how people leaving negative feedback don't understand that using it with wet hands or leaving it in a puddle would cause problems! This is heavy, high quality copper and brass. I'm very pleased. I feel lucky to have gotten a great open box deal. It works and looks like new. The output is prolific as the diameter of the grinder is fairly large. For a wok full of food, usually half of one rotation is enough salt. The salt grind is preset and not adjustable (from what I can tell). For me, it works perfectly for grinding Himalayan pink rock salt down to granular size.TIP: if you seem to have received such a grinder without a handle, be sure to check the inside of the grinder. Traditionally, they're shipped with the handle stowed inside.MORE INFO: the salt and pepper may look similar from the outside, if you got both of the same color and model. The pepper will have a visible screw on the vertical side which will not be present on the salt. The pepper will have a screw to adjust the grind fineness on the BOTTOM. The acorn nut on the top of either grinder is only to hold the handle on, nothing else. (This is self evident if you bother to look at it.)Thank you to those who left misguided negative reviews here, returned the grinder, and made it possible for me to get it for $20! Maybe I got the one with the "missing" handle, ha!

I have had the pepper mill for years and always loved it. It works well and is beautiful. The salt mill became tarnished very quickly, within about a month, and now, 6 months later, it doesn't work. It is not made as well as the pepper mill. I am very disappointed.

Arrived promptly and appropriately packaged. The handle was inside, as noted in the description. Easy to assemble. Yes, the inside is lined in plastic so as not to corrode the metal. Isn't that why there's a difference between a salt mill and a pepper mill? It grinds perfectly. Looks lovely up on the shelf of my stove. I wanted one for a long time; my only regret was not to buy it sooner!

Awesome product in both looks and manufacture. I know its a bit pricy, but spice grinders are a special and apart from other grinders. Buying two pepper grinders doesn't mean you have a salt grinder too. Salt and pepper are two very different spices in hardness and texture. And with the popular use of pink Hymalayan salt (which is hard as heck)..well, it will ruin a pepper grinder. Also salt is very corrosive, even with stainless steel. These people know grinders. AND they look awesome on the table or the counter!

I first ordered a Pepper Mill that looks exactly like this and it's beautiful and functions wonderfully! So of course I had to have the Salt Mill to match. I don't know why, but the quality of the Salt Mill is nowhere near as good as the Pepper in terms of how it looks. Functionally, it's perfect, which is why the product gets two stars... but within just a couple of weeks the copper on the outer shell got a dark, corroded look to it and a few weeks after that, the brass portions on the top and bottom started to weather as well. It's easy to tell my Salt and Pepper mills apart now... the pretty one is pepper and the ugly, dirty-looking one is salt. Major disappointment.
