The ATO Auto Top Off System NewGen One is an excellent addition to any saltwater or freshwater aquarium. Its dual optical sensor design ensures precise water level maintenance, preventing overflow and keeping your tank stable. The system's long-life design promises durability and reliability, making it a worthwhile investment for any aquarist. Installation is straightforward, and the device operates quietly, not disturbing tank inhabitants. Overall, the NewGen One delivers solid performance and peace of mind for maintaining optimal water conditions, but minor tweaks might be necessary for perfect functionality.

First thing - the use of magnets is pretty cool, and they hold! I have 2 turtles and they like to mess with things in the tank but this has remained in place! Issues: 1) It is hard to see the indicator light, I wish it were brighter. Looking at it straight on is the worst. It is best visible from the side of the sensor. 2) The way it is shaped, it is not possible to raise it to the very top of the tank so the water will not rise as high as I like - it is blocked by the lip of the tank (plastic piece all the way around for setting pumps, light hoods, etc. on. 3) The pump is a little slow. That's not a huge deal as I do not intend to use it - I will be wiring the pump power to a soldenoid driven valve and attach it to a water source - NO buckets! :) I've tested it, it has plenty of current to drive a small RO water solenoid valve. 4) It worked great through the first bucket of water. There was still a few inches in the bucket but I saw no lights on the sensor. I unplugged power, waited 10 seconds, plugged back in - no light. I pulled the sensor, let the water drain out, lightly shook it, set it back in the water - no light. I pulled the power cord connectors, and reconnected them. Now I had power when I checked. Pump came on, water started flowing again! Nice little design, not perfect, but certainly works!!

Don’t try to save me for your ATO. I wanted to give it a shot to see if this would work given it’s half the price of the next cheapest option but this is garbage. The water sensor has no light showing on it making me believe it came broken. It also will not do anything no matter what I do. Tried removing water to below the sensor level nothing happened. Tried taking the sensor out of the tank entirely to allow all water to empty out and still nothing happens. When I first plugged it in the pump came on so I know it’s not a power issue, but the water sensor clearly doesn’t work. Waste of my time I will be returning this Chinese trash

So I used this on a small 5 gallon tank and didn't realize a couple things when I got it. First, you need to have the back-up water supply be at the same level as your tank so the water doesn't siphon backwards. I don't really have a place to put the water up high where my tank is. Secondly, the magnet's sensor can't sit all the way at the top of my tank because of how the magnet attaches it. That just meant I had to keep the water level down lower on an already small tank. The unit worked ok while I used it. It needed to be hooked up and powered on in the right order. I have since moved to a larger tank with a lid where the water isn't evaporating anymore like it used to so I don't need this for that set-up. It is a great concept and I think very useful for a time ibn the future when I get a larger tank and have more space for the refil bottle next to it.
