Dolby Vision HDR using Dolby Vision, the image can be transferred in real time from an SDI or HDMI HDR camera to any Dolby Vision enabled TV or monitor. The Shogun allows instant playback, slow motion, frame-by-frame analysis, SDR playback, and much more. ProRes RAW - The best of RAW and ProRes in one. The maximum dynamic range, colour accuracy and detail accuracy are maintained accurately, making it very easy to edit video in post-production. The Shogun 7 supports ProRes RAW, ProRes, CinemaDNG (up to 30p) and DNxHD formats. Balanced audio. No separate audio recorder is needed: simply connect a 48V stereo microphone via a balanced XLR breakout cable, select mic or input levels and record up to 12 channels of digital audio from HDMI or SDI. The recorded stereo can be checked via the 3.5 mm headphone jack. There are dedicated levels, gain controls and image delay settings.

Great little tool but the date/year only runs from 2014-2024. This makes a mess of file management. Not sure why, but I can’t find a manual or the firmware update for this unit. (Shogun Classic) Still waiting to hear from Atomos support for a resolution. Hopefully I can update to a 5.

This is the perfect version of the Shogun. It still has a physical LTC input, which makes it more useful than the newest Atomos recorders in some applications. Would buy again if it’s available.

Super consigliato

I like that the quality of the image is pretty accurate and looks amazing. How ever, this product over heats so bad! It over heats to the point where it’s uncomfortable to hold. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to test out this product until a month after I bought it so I cannot return it. How ever I wouldn’t purchase this item for the price. I’m sure it has amazing features that I have seen on reviews and that’s why I got this. But It shut down on me a few times on big video shoots. I use a Z Cam so there is no monitor on it. So I was 1) embarrassed on set and 2) so disappointed in this product and 3) felt upset that I couldn’t return it which is my fault that I waited too long. In conclusion save your money and don’t purchase this product.

Update: still having issue, and auto record often forgets to stop, so it just keeps recording forever until you unplug power. It’s an interesting touchscreen switcher, but not an awful recorder. Even the old PIX240 is better. It’s a little buggy, but I still find it useful. I’m basically just using it as a touchscreen switcher, and the main issue I have is that if any of the signals it’s receiving go offline or experience a hiccup (resetting a teradeck for example), it freaks out and often needs a reboot. Make sure your sdi 1 input is the most reliable, because when that one goes down, the whole thing goes nuts. To make matters worse, the reboot situation isn’t idea (no switch, just a power button that you have to hold for the right amount of time; too short, locks the screen, too long, factory reset ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ). Sometimes just locking and unlocking the screen will get you back online. I’m not I love with it, but WHEN it works, it’s super slick and convenient.

This is a high quality monitor/recorder. It looks amazing and is bright. The problem is it still does not have all of the features it is supposed to as the new firmware is still not released. Also, how can a monitor in this price range not have the basic feature of flipping the screen left to right? You can only flip upside down. Super cheap monitors can flip left to right.** UpdateAtomos has implemented the quad recording and switching capabilities and also gave us a bonus in that the display can get up to 3000 nits! Nice! I still really need the left to right screen flip functionality. With that feature, this will be the ultimate monitor / recorder.

Atomos guys sale this product as 'Monitor-Recorder-Switcher'But this is not working as a switcher and not even work as a multi-track recorder. It only works as a monitor and 1 track recorder. These guys said buyer should wait for next firmware, even don't give any time plan. I don't know about the future but at this moment, I'm sure that buying this product is really wasting money and I really want to money back.

This monitor is awesome. With the update most of the features are in place, still waiting on a couple more to come but you can see Atomos is doing active development and releasing firmware upgrades. I’m a believer and can’t wait for the multi-camera switching update.

I updated the firmware and it has all the features it is advertising. Pricey from this vendor. But the monitor/recorder/switcher works as advertised, AFTER firmware upgrade. Pretty cool actually all the different formats. HDR etc...
