I used the mount with a swivel and boat seat in my hunting blind on a raised platform. Works great! Better than any other type of chair. There are no chair legs to obstruct turning 360 degrees. Overall, very stable. There is some wobble, but nothing dangerous as some reviews stated. The mount is a tube-in-a-tube configuration, therefore, there will be some movement. The gap between the tubes is a few paper thicknesses. Using a ¼” diameter bolt instead of the included pin removed most of the wobble.

The Attwood seat mount is very easy to install, especially if you're installing into plywood decking. I would suggest adding an extra layer of plywood to the base, at least 1 ft x 1 ft for extra stability to sure the seat w/mount doesn't crack or pull up 1/2" plywood. If your decking is 3/4" plywood or thicker, you should be fine securing it directly without the need for reinforcement. Use lug bolts and nylon lock nuts to secure the base to your decking, no worries about the mount working itself loose over time from motor vibration or movement.TO FIX THE WOBBLE ISSUE:To eliminate wobble, simply place some electrical tape on the inside diameter of the lower pedestal until the upper portion is a tight fit, then use the locking pin to secure it at its highest setting. No more wobble. Use small strips of electrical tape, installing on opposite sides equally until you reach your desired tight fit. The pedestal will be nearly as firm and as sturdy as a 1-piece pedestal. While the design could've been engineered better from the manufacturer, a $2 roll of electrical tape fixes the wobble issue entirely. Other mounts are much more expensive than this one, so the Attwood is a good budget-priced option for installing a fixed or swivel seat onto your boat. 1/4" stainless bolts is all you need for mounting.

I just got these yesterday so I haven’t fully had time to check and see that they are durable and going to last. But I need to write this review because I always check reviews and I guess for some reason I didn’t with these until after I purchased. The name is very misleading. From the title you would think that these swivel. They absolutely do not. However, I will say that compared to what I looked at just at your regular retail stores, these look much thicker and more durable. You can buy the piece that makes it swivel on Amazon as well so I got on as soon as I got these and bought that piece. It’s just a big disappointment when you get a package and you’re excited about it and think it’s ready to install but then you find out that you actually have to buy another piece for it to work the way you want it to. Also, I know others have mentioned this but I will mention it to you it doesn’t come with any bolts. It wasn’t hard to find what we needed at the local hardware store but kind of annoying as well.Update: they have been installed and the durability seems okay. We did have to purchase $15 worth of bolts. We also ended up purchasing the swivel that goes with the pedestal and for the price (renovating a boat on a strict budget) I am satisfied. I honestly don’t think we could have gotten better quality for the price.**picture on lowest setting of the mount. It can go much higher relatively easy snd still seems sturdy.

Used it to put a pedestal seat at the front of my Jon boat. Did the trick nicely, I like the ability to raise or lower the seat as needed. Some reviews said it rattled or was a little wobbly. That is simply a function of the 2 tubes that sit inside one another. I simply added a wrap or 2 of electrical tape around the bottom of the skinny tube (just enough to barely allow it to go into the fatter tube) and took out the slop nicely. Snugged it up and no more wobble or noise. Easy peasy.

Very good quality so far. Great powder coating paint. Great packaging and delivery. About the product, I wish it had a lower setting. I like the lower setting for my boat, but for slow cruising would like a lower position.Updating my review, the paint on the base rusted in about one year and a half time, perhaps less, and during that time perhaps only 6 months or less of exposure to the ocean, not marine grade metal. This could be dangerous because if metal rusts enough, the seat could break off while driving and that could mean disaster
