After 2 and a half years it leaks. While it wasn't that expensive I would think that it should last longer. The ones on my old bass boat lasted more than 7 years. Just my 2 cents.

Is a direct replacement and did install properly, however does not hold the hatch lid up, no way it is a twenty pound unit. Will attempt to return but must remove first.

I never liked the gas spring actuators. A mechanical spring actuator lasts longer and hardly ever needs replacement.
