Tank doesn't have a vent plug. Tank invalided. I had to open the top for the tank to go back ot its normal size.

Great little fuel tank except for the fact that being sealed like this will more than likely cause issues with your motor running lean or flooding on first start. Buy a fuel demand valve or modify the cap. EPA is no fun.

It works just as I expected. I put some quick connects on it for the hose and it does its job great.

I read the reviews and figured I'd give it shot and save a few bucks compared to the other tanks.I put the correct hoses and fittings on it and put some fuel in it. So far so good until it sat in the sun or a hot garage. Both air and gasoline expand when warmed up and sure enough, it swelled. I loosened the cap and poked the white check valve ball. Okay. That worked until the ball seated itself back in the hole.I jammed a screwdriver in the hole where the ball sits to prevent it from sealing in hole. That worked great. now the tank will leak fuel through the cap if filled up with fuel or it gets turned such that fuel is higher that the cap. Oh well. Lesson learned. It still works great as a spare fuel tank for those longer boat rides and the inboard tank isn't quite big enough.I would do 3-1/2 stars if I could.

This tank works perfectly.. those that report it blows up like a balloon.. Didn't check inside the cap.. there's a little white ball that mY have gotten stuck . It should move freely. you may have to poke it with a pencil or screw driver.. to loosen it. after that it will fully vent the tank as it should.!! This is a great gas tank.. I love the gas guage.. the ease of use, it's low profile.. a really great bargain. 100% satisfied.

After I purchased this fuel tank I read numerous reviews talking about how the tank swells up in the heat. Because of the distorted shape after swelling the fuel gauge does not work. It is a ventless tank and is going to swell in the heat. Before I used the tank the first time I replaced the ventless cap with a vented cap off an old tank. I have absolutely no problems with the tank swelling and the fuel gauge works perfect. I apologize that I am venting some gas fumes, but marine gas tanks need to be vented. Avoid the swelling, and damage, to your tank by replacing the cap with a vented one. Good tank otherwise.

I bought this for my boat due to the original tank being corroded i haven't used it yet but it seems to be good quality and cheaper then trying to pay someone to replace my indwelling cell ..one suggestion i would make is make an additional purchase for the moeller portable tank and topside venting cap to replace the factory cap because every review i've read stated that unless you vent your tank on a regular basis it will swell and cause fuel delivery issues or failure at some point so I saved myself the trouble and bought one to replace the original

Treat this tank properly and it will last 20 years. But if you torque the fuel pick up fitting, over tighten and strip , or loosen it and allow it to spin around, then water ingress will occur in the tank after it rains because Rain collects on the tank top. Tilting the tank a few degrees while exposed to rain allows water to run off. I have replaced the cap with a vented version so that tank expansion in very hot weather will not occur. Tank expansion is a whole other story the buyer should be aware of, or research. Fuel tanks are now systems, not your dad's omg tank cap.
