The Atwood PRV was not in original packaging, had some corrosion, and appear used. Not good at all.

Gave this 5 stars because it works well. Now on to the bad. This thing was $35. I was fine with the price because I thought it was an original Atwood/Dometic part. Well it is, in packaging only. Take it out of the package and it is the same as the other ones on Amazon costing half as much. How do I know this? There is a blue metallic tag on the front of it that has all the specifications on it. Including the manufacturer, who turns out to be the same as any other pressure relief valve you can buy for half the price. Save your money, buy the less expensive one.

Easy to install with a channel lock plyer. Don’t need the special tool. Comes with the tread dope on the threads so no need to use anything else. Works perfect and no leaks

Safety valve was dripping when water heater approached temperature. Was told that this is common if there is no longer an air pocket in the top of the water heater. Don't know how true that is since of this is the case it took 12 years for this to happen.Installed the new safety valve and all works perfectly. Old valve seat was corroded over the years. A little tricky to get a bite on the valve for uninstalling and installing. Used a large wrench that fit over the side and used another wrench to turn the main wrench. With care it worked perfectly.Seems safety valves do have a limited service life as was the case with mine. 12 years of service.

This is the actual Atwood brand part. You may find it for less than $20, but that would likely be a generic part. This brand name part was $37 from this Amazon seller; my local RV shop charges $45. The generic part might work fine, but we use our RV in the winter and can't take a chance on anything in the water system. If your RV water heater relief valve is leaking, it might not need replacing - if it is just dripping, check your manual or google it, there are steps to create an air gap which will re-seat the valve. But if it leaks continuously like mine, it may need replacing. On inspection after removal, the old valve was filled with hard water deposits and/or corroded inside so it could not seal properly. This package included instructions, was easy to replace and works perfectly. Seller PPL Motorhomes shipped this to me in 2 days - even tho tracking shows it has not been shipped yet! Fast! Fixed! No more leaking! Thanks!
