The 5.1 optical to analog decoder is exactly what I needed, to interface a modern TV with a 5.1 surround sound speaker system from the 2000's.Inexpensive and functional, with a solid build.I would buy it again if I need another.If you are considering this, please remember that it will have problems common to analog speaker systems. You may hear an annoying 60Hz tone through your speakers. That isn't a defect if this box, but a grounding problem you always will have to deal with when using analog with multiple power supplies.This box has no volume control and no one/off other than removing power. It has no optical output. If you want more outputs or inputs get a bigger more expensive system. The instructions are minimal and but in good English. But it is easy to install and use.Configure the source device to output optical. I had to go through the TV menu to set the optical volume level higher than zero.Control the volume on the analog sound system.

Depending on your TV's capabilities, you may be able to connect your old Logitech X-540 surround gaming speakers without the use of a sound card. These speakers rely on an external decoder. Luckily, my TV's optical output was able to send a signal to this handy little external DAC. You will also need 3 RCA to 3.5mm Splitter Y Cables to connect the decoder to the speaker inputs. Makes a nice improvised home theater.

I purchased this to convert my TV optical output to 5 speaker system. I connected everything per instructions but am not getting any sound from the speakers. I checked the optical output and it’s working so it has to be the converter. I will be sending it back

Seems to mostly work, although there was some noise sometimes that I didn't understand. But I was trying it out for home theater instead of a fancy receiver and it is not adequate for all the digital signals that can come from the TV.

Es un excelente dispositivo, cumple con lo que promete y si ofrece un 5.1 REAL, lo tengo conectado con un Logitech Z506 con un Xbox one S y la verdad es como el cine en pocas palabras. El envío tardo un poco pero llegó antes de la fecha estipulada, pero si tienes un sistema de sonido 5.1 qué no se pueda conectar por HDMI o Por cable óptico, es la mejor opción.Un punto malo que le noté, que al estar encendido pero sin algún sonido se escucha algo de ruido, pero el ruido se pierde al ver películas o al escuchar música.Incluye el cable óptico y el cable USB de corriente.

Es bueno cumple su función para digitalizar el audio en 5.1 pero debería tener control de volumen porque si lo conectas a bocinas pasivas o un subwoofer sin control de volumen algunas televisiones no te permiten usar el control para bajar el volumen y eso es un problema si no tienes como bajar el volumen con un celular o algún control de volumen externo. Si tus bocinas si tienen control de volumen en el subwofer es una opcion económica y eficiente

I've been scouring the internet for a device that will provide a cheap D/A solution like this little box.I purchased a similar device from a different seller which quickly fell apart and required frequent power cycles to function as advertised.This unit out of box, does not include a complete 5V power supply. It includes a 5V power to USB so you will need to find a 5V usb power brick to get started with this little convertor. While I can see and hear that it is passing 5.1 audio. It is not passing a true discrete 5.1 DTS or Dolby 5.1. While I am curious to know what this 5.1 I'm hearing decoded by this box is, I will be continuing my search for a small D/A converter that can spit out a discrete 5.1.
