I needed a cartridge with a conical stylus so I purchased the AT-VM95C. It sounded pretty decent for a budget cart but somewhat closed-in, nasal, and lacking in detail. Swapping out the original stylus for the ATN-XP3 has really opened up the sound. Everything has improved... soundstage, bass performance, midrange detail, etc. I know the XP series is supposedly intended for DJ use, but don't be fooled. Mine tracks like a champ at 2 grams.

Being a Dj i wanted a stylus that was more robust than the one supplied with the Audio Technica turntable..Has had a fair bit of use since purchased. Good sound quality and easily interchangeable using existing cartridges.

Don't be confused by AT-XP 3 being a DJ cartridge. Yes, it is that but not only for DJ use, This cartridge has a an output of 5.5 MV so it is plenty loud but the bass, the overall sound seperation are very good so the cartidge will make a fine hi-fi cartridge in your home setup. The body is the AT-VM series from Audio Technica and a number different styli will interchange easliy

Really good cheap "first upgrade" option. Lacks a little on the high end, more bass and mid. Adjust for that accordingly.
