Created especially for news and sports broadcasting, this rugged single-ear headset offers highly intelligible and commanding vocal reproduction, along with the convenience of one-ear monitoring. Its low-profile, closed-back design is based on the ATH-M60x professional monitor headphones and includes the same 45 mm large-aperture driver, and premium, memory foam ear pad and headband - plus a memory foam temple pad - giving users a high-fidelity headset that’s built to last. The headset’s hyper cardioid dynamic microphone keeps the pickup focused on the broadcaster’s voice, even in loud environments, and is tailored to reproduce that voice with a rich, broadcast-ready sound. The microphone sits at the end of a rigid boom with a strong, flexible gooseneck section that allows the microphone to be easily adjusted and then stay in place. The boom is also designed to swivel forward and back so that the headset can be worn with the mic positioned on either the right or left side. The headset comes with a 3. 3 m (10. 8') detachable cable (BPCB2) with a TA6F connector at the headset and, at the output end, a 3-pin XLRM-type connector for the microphone and a 6. 3 mm (1/4") connector for the headphones. An unterminated version of the cable (BPCB3) is available separately. Also available: Stereo Broadcast Headset with hyper cardioid dynamic microphone (BPHS2) and Stereo Broadcast Headset with cardioid condenser microphone (BPHS2C).

The price of this set does seem a bit steep but the audio quality of the mic is incredibly good especially when paired with a noise gate and/or compressor. The audio quality of the earphone is actually quite good as well and while there are certainly better devices for listening this is more than enough quality for the purpose that most would use this for (monitoring). My biggest frustration with this headset is that, while it has a stereo input the device just cuts one channel rather than merging them. For the price paid for the device there is absolutely no reason why they couldn't have added the simple circuitry needed to feed both stereo channels into the single earphone so if you end up listening to a stereo feed you will completely miss one channel.Be aware that you will likely need to feed this mic into a mixer as it is a dynamic mic and does not include any amplification (and, as a result, does not use phantom power). You aren't going to be able to just plug this mic directly into most standard computer sound cards and have it work properly because the level will be too low.
