I use toggle clamps in woodworking jigs to hold wood in a fixed position for cutting. This is a solid push/pull toggle clamp with a stated closing force of 851 pounds. I would use it to hold something pretty sizeable, such as a table leg. The force is applied by a bolt head that would mar the wood with that much force, so I would add a protective cover or a flat sheet to go between the bolt head "ram" and the wood. The description of materials is somewhat vague. The one-piece base feels like cast iron or heavy steel with a protective coating. Most of the "works" seem to be stainless steel or coated steel. You can adjust the closure for different-sized materials by screwing/unscrewing the bolt, and tightening the included nut locks it into position. Moving the bolt this way lets you move the ram up to 3/4" to accommodate different-sized materials. The travel of the ram is about 1-11/16".Mounting screws are not included. I would use 1/4". The holes are just over 5/16" (about 8 mm).The motion of the mechanism is very smooth. The lever has a nicely ribbed plastic coating for a good grip. The assembly is held together with big rivets that aren't going to vibrate loose over time.
