The Auto Gage tach never worked. Opened the package and the needle was at 1,000 RPM. wired it up and the needle never moved from the 1,000 mark. Replaced with a BOSCH unit and used the same wiring and the BOSCH unit works fine. Auto Gage is Junk

Put this in my 2003 Toyota Echo, which didn’t even have the option of a tacho as an add on. It looks good. I’ve never wired anything in even the loosest terms but I read around and figured it out, no wire cutting, no solder. It works great! I wish the face could pivot a bit higher but I can always put some spacers in between the mount and the dash. Be careful in larger vehicles however, the wires may not reach as far as you’d like if you don’t want to!

I bought this to replace a similar sized/priced Sunpro tach I bought about 5 years ago. I like this one better. I strapped it to my steering column using a hose clamp (not included). This tach body is made of plastic whereas the Sunpro was metal. It looks good so I don't mind the material change. I want it to last a lot longer than the Sunpro. Now the Sunpro had really long wires that could reach all the way to the fuse box and the MSI ignition box. I didn't even try to reach with the auto meter wires. I just used wire connectors to tie them into the old Sunpro wire I cut off under the dash. The Sunpro also came with about 18 inches of wire sleeve to kind of hide/bundle the wires from the gauge to where they go under the dash. I re-used this on the Autometer gauge because it did not come with it. The Sunpro guage also had a lot heavier gauge wires than the Autometer. The Autometer wires are dainty. I'm not sure they make wires thinner than the autometer wires. They work just fine, but I would prefer the thicker wires that came with the Sunpro. My gauge does work great and I expect it will last longer than the Sunpro, but I thought I'd go ahead and point out where Autometer saved some cost.
