Clips they include with shield are TERRIBLE!! They are only thing holding shield on and 4 of the 6 that were supplied stripped out just by finger tightening. Now I'm stuck with returning or trying to find 3/16 dia body fasteners to make this shield work. Don't buy if you have an 18 Silverado

I bought this deflector thinking it was the same as the broken one on my truck. When it arrived I realized it was different but I installed it anyway. It sits higher off the hood than the old one and it actually looks MUCH better! It was bit of a pain getting a couple of the pre-drilled holes to line up but I managed to get it installed after a bit of maneuvering. Would have been a lot easier with an extra set of hands so recommend having 2 people to install. Very happy with my purchase!!

The hood shield itself looks good. The fasteners supplied are not very substantial. Hopefully they hold. It's not real easy to install either. I did it by myself so no doubt it would be easier with an extra pair of hands.

The deflector looks good and fits good BUT the attaching fasteners are cheap. When installing the deflector the attaching fasteners would break or strip. Instead of using the fasteners i used pop rivets with large flange.

Decent looking bug deflector for the money. Had issues with the fasteners when I first tried installing it. Broke 2 of them right off the bat. One had the head snap off and the other one had a piece of the outer part that goes into the hood snap off along with the head of the pin. I wound up going to the hardware store and getting larger faced push pins that worked much better. Then when it came down to the last 2 holes, I had to locate where the hood hole was and drill them out larger to get the pins to align correctly. One hole wasn't to awful bad but the last one was a whole hole off as you can see in the photos. Once that was done and the pins went in, it's a decent looking piece. Overall it took me a couple hours in zero windchill temps to get it done. I live in rural Nebraska and the trip to town took 40 minutes round trip. Not complaining about that because I love to drive. Not sure I'd buy this particular one again because of the issues I had.

I wish I had installed this when I first bought my truck! I want to address some issues I read in other review. It's not hard to install, even by yourself. The holes didn't line up perfectly, but it wasn't difficult to make it work. When dealing with the plastic screws, keep in mind, they are only there to keep the deflector in place when the hood is up. Once the hood is down, it's not going anywhere. Make sure you install this between the hood and the rubber strip. You know, follow the directions. There is no need to get different screws. Don't over tighten them and they're fine.

First, the dislike, like everybody else-THE FASTENERS, AVS! Got that out of the way.The main concerns were: keeping the weather seal on the front of the hood; closing the hood; and fit. Those concerns are gone and this is a perfect fit. Though the deflector is only listed to fit the 2014-2018, it also fits the 2019 Silverado/Sierra 1500 LD Legacy, and 2500/3500 series trucks.Reading the instructions, it was noted that the shield fits between the under surface of the hood and the weather seal. As noted in picture 3, the shield was placed temporarily on the hood and small pieces of masking tape wereplaced to indicate which weather strip fasteners would have to be removed. A dot was placed on the masking tape where there would be a fastener. A fastener removal tool was then used to remove only the required fasteners. Slipping the hood shield between the hood and the weather seal, the bottom portion of the provided fasteners were pushed through the weather strip, the hood shield and into the existing hole in the hood. The provided screws are worthless. Instead, #6 x 1/2" stainless steel screws were used. As the directions indicate, substantial upward pressure is required to keep the expanding fastener into the hood while the screw is seated. Three hands for this would have been better, but it was accomplished with two. There is plenty of standaway between the top hood surface and the bug shield. small pads are in the kit to make certain the hood surface is not damaged. The hood closes with ease and the hood latch is accessible. It is considered car wash safe and we have gone through the brush contact wash with no issues. This particular bug shield was rated at #1 of ten rated. It is one of the more reasonable as-well. Our previous AVS bug shield was 8 years old and looking proud until we were t-boned. The truck was demolished, but the AVS bug shield is still in tact. AVS is a winner!

Ok.. First off and mostly importantly. The fitment is perfect. Doesnt hit my grill when closing hood. A different brand I tried on Amazon here was horrible. The install is a bitch. You will need a second person to get it proper. On has to hold hood partial open while you push the deflevtor against the hood to get the plastic piece in correctly. If you read and follow the instruction properly which I assume people are messing up... It does work properly with their hardware. I could understand people being worried and installing with some metal screws. I did it myself. I assume AVS avoids this because it will damage the paint and may cause rust over time.I love it. I'd recommend it to everyone. See my photo for install look.

The bug deflector wasn’t very easy to install. It looked like it was either meant for a similar truck model/ year or maybe it warped. The installation holes were slightly off. I had to use a screw driver to pry the deflector until the holes matched up.
