Rebuilt my avid elixir 7 brakes with the new pistons and seals. After a brake bleed, the brake fluid leaked at the pistons immediately upon finishing the bleed and testing the brake.

This is a good little kit to replace sticky caliper pistons on Avid Elixir brakes.I’ve had to do this several times over the years on my rear caliper and used this kit on two of the occasions.Usually I find one piston seized and the other working okay. When it comes to dismantling it I hold in the working piston and pump the brake lever to draw out the seized one.After cleaning and rebuilding I always use a YouTube video to help me remember what the bleed process is as it’s not exactly straight forward.

I like that this kit comes with new pistons. Brakes feel like new with new seals and pistons. You can find good directions online to walk you through the process. These are for my Avid Elixir R brakes. It's a bit of a pain to overhaul, but way cheaper than buying new brakes or taking it to the bike shop! I had a sticky piston...not sure it was the new seals or the new piston, but regardless, it's back in good shape. I would recommend when you overhaul, replace both the seals and the pistons (some kits just give you the O rings).

Fit well and restored some sticky Avid Elixir R brakes. Now if only Avid would design the parts to not swell and stick in the first place....

When you find that the calipers start sticking all too often or you've been bad by using a large screwdriver to spread AND CHIP your pistons, this kit will overhaul your brakes like new. Detailed instructions on the Avid website. Item was shipped quickly and well packaged.
